Juneau get's a lot of people from the Northwest, which everyone knows is very liberal. There are even a good amount of people that go back and forth between Seattle area and Juneau for work.. spend a few weeks up there and come back.
But either way, I doubt it's "flaming liberal by Austin standards".. that is just nonsense.

As a current resident of TX who has spent some time in CA, I'd have to guess that the culture in TX will improve so long as too many busy bodies don't show up.

Most people just disagreed with Tim's stance on Austin, not whatever point you were attempting to make.

Haha.
So I disagreed with Tim's stance on Austin, then a bunch of other people disagreed with Tim's stance on Austin.. but yeah, like Russian said most of what I say doesn't make sense. I'm not saying they disagreed with Tim because I did, I'm saying my view is the same as many others in this thread.

Juneau attracts government workers and enviro-nuts. It's the most Democrat infested city in Alaska.
Lots of gubment workers here. I can deal with the enviro-nuts, some of my friends have that inclination but the gubment workers are the most boring people I have ever met.
A slightly smaller Portland, Maine (though Portland isn't the capital) would be a decent comparison. Lot's of artsy types.

Really, yeah let's reduce this down to an argument over which city is more liberal Juneau Alaska or Austin Tx... Austin is far more liberal, that is really not even a question. But for the sake of it, lets say Juneau is more liberal than Austin, your statement that "it's flaming liberal by Austin standards" is just total nonsense.

Not bad. Usually 25-35 degrees. There really isn't a typical winter though. This one is cold and snowy though. I like it...
It's beautiful in winter too. Been here off and on for about 18 years and still in love with the place.

To give you a point of reference, since you are pulling stuff of your arse right now, Juneau is often called "little San Francisco" for more reasons other than the hills and coastline.

To be honest, my college team was filled with guys from the northwest. A few Seattle guys, and 6 Alaska guys. I went up there for 2 months one summer. Spent most of the time in Fairbanks, but some time in Juneau. I know more than you think I know...
Juneau is most definitely a liberal city.. but it's nothing compared to Austin.
Austin is a city of almost 1 million people, Juneau is about 30,000. The constant music acts, the constant influence from a major university, it's just not even in the same realm. I'm glad you made the board aware that Juneau is liberal, but it's not "flaming liberal compared to Austin" that is off base.
This is hilarious that we're even having this conversation.. I mean have you ever been to Austin? This is just absurd.

Yep, Austin has more of a libertarian vibe IMO. It has pockets of liberals.
Juneau is more similar to Portland, Maine or Eugene, Oregon.
