Brave new world, 1982, Of mice and men are all social books
Fooled by randomness, the black swan, and winning the losers game are all great financial reads
Bourne conspiracy, the hunger games, novels by ken follet, etc
The Godfather is my all time favorite

Lords of Discipline (story about The Citadel sans the black guy part) is awesome! So is The Great Santini and Beach Music by Pat Conroy who was a Citadel grad.
I recently picked up my JACK LONDON. stories and re read Cruise of the Dazzler and other short stories - I can't wait for my so to be old enough to read London, Harry Potter be damned!

Puzo's book is no where near as good as the movie, very rare that one can say that.

"My Losing Season" and "The Great Santini" are two more Conroy books that I'd recommend.

In seriousness, the novel definitely isn't for everyone, but I got a good bit of entertainment and enrichment from his work. I think it is brilliant.
