This. This show desperately needs a Republican in the White House. Back in the day it used to be like a radio version of the OT. They'd just find the most absurd stories from across the country and comment on em. Now it's painful politalk.

Used to listen to them too way back in the day. Then they went all political and I quit listening.

Why they went so political is beyond me. Mix in a joke about Lindsey Lohan or something else stupid and whorish.

The market for political conservative/extreme conservative media is saturated.

Grew up listening to those guys in NOLA when they started out on B-97FM. They were actually very funny, and didn't talk politics.

They've now become bitter, political hack versions of themselves. even when I did happen to agree with a position they held, they expressed in such a shrill way that I finally turned them off.

Still on 98.1 in Baton Rouge though.

Agreed. If I didn't know any better, I'd almost say it was so intentionally over the top that they actually don't believe the things they are saying. It's like they are liberal moles trolling us all in an effort to paint a poor picture of conservatives/republicans. I mean, if even the most die hard right-wingers can't stand it, who can?

But it's not funny or insightful enough to be satire (Colbert), and not intelligent or thought-provoking enough to be commentary, so instead it's just plain shitty.

Hurts me to say it, too. I grew up with those guys.

I still listen every morning on my way into work. I will admit, the schtick has started to wear on me. But I still normally enjoy the show.

I'm disappointed they dont do the funny songs on Fridays anymore. A lot of the humor has left. I listen pretty early in the morning, so It usually before they get rolling and into it. It seems they have abandoned what was awesome about the show before Bush.

I had satellite radio a couple of years ago while working in Dallas, so I listened to Howard a lot to try it out.

I'll admit, he had some funny segments at times. Hes a great interviewer and gets some interesting responses out of the celebrities he has on the show. I enjoyed George Takei's bachelor party live on the air. I laughed a lot through that one.

But overall, most of his shows are the cronies on the show fighting with each other while Howard keeps setting them off. Thats not entertaining to me. Then, they have the after show where they fight about the people fighting on the show. Meh.

All that. I really think the biggest problem is Walton. At one point in the early 90's they split up. As I recall there was some contract issue, because I think Walton owns the show. anyway, he started doing the show with some guy named Rumble...Walton & Rumble. It was fricking terrible. A while later, they kissed and made up and when on. But without Johnson, the show then was a lot like it is now...just snarky and not all that entertaining. I'd assume there's been a decision to take it in this direction for one reason or another. It is interesting to see people who have listened long ago have the same take I have...can;t be uncommon. Most be mostly newer listeners that are keeping them on the air.

If you listen to NPR with the mindset that everything on it is a massive joke and great satire its actually kind of funny

That show was awesome in the 80s when they were original and their humor could resonate with me as a 10 year old.

It turns me off how they try to be hip and edgy, yet bitch and moan about "young people" like crotchety old bastards. They're good for one or two laughs during their four hour show and that's it.

It's ironic - the show that prides themselves on being humorous, often at the expense of others, opens their phone lines to callers but they don't appreciate when callers have fun at their expense.

Get on their show and ambush them with a Stern shout out enough times and you might theoretically find yourself being interviewed by a member of the JPSO and threatened with prosecution under the RICO act. I'm just sayin it could theoretically happen
