re: Geithner says Obama will throw the US over Fiscal Cliff if rich don't get soaked

I wouldn't mind seeing the R's pass the following proposal:

- Two year budget
- Bush tax cuts for the bottom 98% become permanent.
- Bush tax cuts for the top 2% are suspended until 2017.
- 10% cut in Defense and Commerce. 25% cut in Justice, particularly prisons and the DEA.
- 5% reduction in all other budget items the first year and another 5% from there in the second year.

Most of that is a lib's wet dream. The R's can argue that they're cutting their own favorite programs and letting rates go up on the rich. If by some miracle it produces positive results, they can say they put the good of the country first. If (when) it doesn't work, they can argue that they gave the libs what they wanted and now it's time to do it the conservatives' way.

Ogump and Reid will probably obstruct it, but it's simple enough for sound bites and bumper stickers. The Kool Aid drinkers will pass their lies around on Facebook but most people will know better.

I have a question. If we do go over the fiscal cliff, would we still be spending more than we are taking in? Tbey talk about all these cuts if a deal isnt reached. Will the cuts allow us to acutually start making money? Havent been keeping up with all this stuff. Guess what im asking is, is there any good that can come of going over the cliff.

I wass always told there was no such thing as a stupid question. Hope this isnt the first.

No. They won't.

I think he wants to go over the fiscal cliff in order to raise taxes on the middle class. He'll blame republicans for raising taxes on the middle class in the process of protecting the "rich".

Republicans will be responsible for raising taxes on 98% of Americans in their zeal to keep themselves from paying more. It is pure political gamesmanship on Obama's part and he has the GOP dancing likle little girls and they hate it that they are bright enough to flip the script.

I think Obama wants to go over the cliff, he just wants to be able to blame it on the republicans.

Prexactly!!

Which is why I think the GOP should just get out of the way - do not agreen nor disagree. Just vote
"present" when the votes come up. No opposition, no compromise, no agreement.

The GOP should go to the media and argue their cases = and tell the public what they are going to do.

And more precisely - tell the public WHY.

Do some "politicking" - explain that all the DEMs have done for 4 decades is screw things up and blame the GOP.

Explain that the voters deserve what they voted for = non-leadership.

Tell the public that 'elections have consequences.' You voted for it = you are going to get it.

Explain WHY every thing Obama wants to do is BAD for the country - but the voters were more interested in 'star' appeal than they were issues. So, this is what you get - be more thoughtful with your vote next time.

Explain that the media has not done their job of asking tough questions of this president as they have all others in the past. They did no 'vetting' of his resume or his true agenda - they gave him a pass.

DEMAND news conferences to get their message out - pass resolutions in the House if the media will not cover their decisions or deliver their opinions on the way the government should be operated.

Then vote present - tell the DEMs = you get whatever you want.

Objective = let the crash occur SOON rather than later when there will be fewer people around to know how to put the pieces back together.

Let the DEMs have it - with NO compromise.

DO NOT ACCEPT this abortion by getting some little bone tossed in their direction. If they do they will be BLAMED for the crisis - or at least be complicit in the crisis.

Let the DEMs very clearly OWN whatever happens.

And hey - maybe the DEMs were right all along - perhaps it IS possible to 'tax yourself into prosperity' and maybe the GOP has been screwing that idea up by insisting on individual responsibility and integrity. If so, we can all happily quit our jobs and jump on the gravy train with the majority of the DEM voter base.

And maybe we can get to marry our sisters or granddaughters out of the deal.

It will be his fault if a bill put before him is veto'd

The Senate may not even vote (at all) on a compromise between Obama and Boehner - the classic bait and switch.
