"You pathetic rebound frick!!! Now get your patchouli stink OUT of my store...MOVE IT, LARDASS!!!"

I also love the subsequent scene where Ian gets hit w/ the phone and spits teeth.

Great movie. I seriously identify with Rob Gordon.

Same here. There's a scene in the book that perfectly encapsulates the man, about buying a primo record collection for 10 bucks from a jilted ex. He can't do it, as it's a betrayal of his fellow man.

It's in the extended cut. The jilted ex is played by Beverly D'Angelo.

When the bald guy rips the window a/c unit out of the wall, and slams it down on Tim Robbins...I was crying I was laughing so hard.

One of my fav movies. The movie follows the book very closely. Actually, its prob the closest book to movie adaptation I have ever seen as far as following the original work.

Yeah, the old "what I'd REALLY like to do to this guy" fantasy sequence. Great comedic device, never gets old.

I think my favorite line is

"Is that Peter fricking Frampton?"

I say this everytime he comes on the radio.

I'm such a nerd that when Dick is teaching his girlfriend about Green Day's primary influences, I get exceedingly pissed off because it's wrong, and shows how the book was written by a Brit. Green Day is NoCal band, to think that their biggest influence was not an SST band is absurd. And considering how much of a blatant ripoff American Idiot is of Zen Arcade, it's pretty clear that Husker Du is their biggest influence outside of the Ramones.

Though I do love Stiff Little Fingers, and totally support playing one of their songs in the movie. But seriously, Green Day is not a Stiff Little Fingers ripoff. 90s pop punk bands from Gilman Street weren't looking across the pond to Ireland for their influences.

Yes, this is the kind of thing that bothers me.

Marie deSalle is playing. You remember I told you about her? I like her. She's kind of Sheryl Crow-ish crossed with a post-Partridge Family, pre-LA Law Susan Dey kind of thing. But you know...uh...black.

Aside from the whole Ian confrontation sequence, my favorite scene is Barry fricking with the middle age white guy who wanted the Stevie Wonder record for his daughter. Can't find it on YouTube.

Do you even KNOW your daughter? There's no way she likes that song!

Oh, is she in a coma?

I don't disagree with the notion that The Clash is one of their primary influences.

Well, who isn't influenced by the Clash? But Dick asserts that Stiff Little Fingers is one of Green Day's two primary influences, and I don't see how anyone can support that theory. Though "Suspect Device" is a cool song.

Speaking of the soundtrack. He's in Chicago and there's not one Steve Albini reference all movie long? Come on. At least play some Naked Raygun (ok, they did play Liz Phair).

That soundtrack is pretty difficult to find, actually. I dated a girl (my own personal Charley Nicholson, in fact) who loved "I Believe When I Fall In Love With You It Will Be Forever", and I played 3 kinds of hell trying to find the soundtrack because that's what she wanted.
