I don't believe that this can ever be possible. Have you ever known anyone that is truly, completely content? It is human nature to want more. The continual struggle to have more money and power than your neighbor is what has propelled the human race to the top of the food chain (along with bipedalism, opposable thumbs, and a large neocortex). This drive is essential to us as a human race as we will continue to face new struggles as time goes on. Be will always have a baseline level of violence. Remember, our ape ancestors conquered the more complacent apes of their times.

I'm certain the declining violent crime stats have been posted on this board numerous times...do you seriously doubt the veracity of the fact of declining violent crime? If so, you should refrain from watching the 24 hr news cycle.
Right And it's something that's just such a basic fundamental fact that everyone should be equipped with that it's not worth fleshing out the numbers That would be like someone saying that the national debt has gone up and some dip shite asking for a link

Why go out and mug someone when you can steal their identity from the comfort of your home?

I think another aspect to this is the fact that kids are so preoccupied now. They always have something in front of them, a phone, tablet, computer, video games. You have to actually interact with other people to be violent. This generation is completely distracted with "entertainment" and commercials. I think this is very bad for our country. We are now sedate and complacent. We are much easier to control now
Its a brave new world

Having watched the Teletubies during thier childhood would be a great explanation for the increase in all of the sexual hi-jinks at the college ages level these days, and the demands for "respect" of it from the various subheadings they fall into by choice.

It floors me that it was the Greatest Generation and the Boomers who created the myth that government was the solution to all of the world's problems, yet they have the audacity to judge Gens X and Y merely for believing them. Frankly, I'm impressed that Generation Y has bucked against the myth as much as they have.

Cops have told me that they are under pressure to reduce violent crime statistics. Because the mayors want to get re-elected. This can be done by playing with stats. New Orleans reduced the murder rate by not counting victims who arrived at the hospital still alive. If a person high on drugs robs a victim you can charge him with drugs instead of armed robbery.

Of course not. But it's a major player. It's a cleaner crime. And you absolutely get more bang for your buck.and it too is on the decline, but life subsidization is on the rise, we'll see how it balances out.

another aspect of this perpetual contentment/absorbtion in media for the younger generation is the fact that they become dehumanized to some degree so when they do get mad they go out and do crazy shite like this. They never learned how to handle their anger in an appropriate/socially acceptable manner. They would just get lost in the latest first person shooter games alone in their rooms, so when they cant handle it anymore, this is how they take out their aggression.

This is so stupid The problem with the older generation is so they're so fricking fact averse and motherfricking stupid is that they take one stupid article on the internet and overlook the much bigger picture.
