O'Brien and Urban are as deserving, if not more

i can see why he got award, though

for my money, David Shaw is the CoY

Hard to argue with that choice. Has a preseason unranked team ever made it to the national title game? It's a pretty remarkable accomplishment, particularly with a FR QB.

True, I didn't think his style of football could get ND to the top. But he changed right? Heavy defense focus and a lot less risk taking on offense.

well i don't think he can run his offense with a 2nd year QB

he's been recruiting defensive talent for years. it's not like his D is built on true freshmen

he's still building up that total roster

Same plan, same schemes, same defensive roster building.

Biggest change was dropping poverty Tommy Rees and not turning the ball over as much this year. A lot of credit goes to Nix, Teo, KLM, for improving their games as well.

So many more deserving coaches even with my ND hatred.

O'Brien did just a stupid job.

And David Shaw, after losing Luck, switching QB's early season...

BK made an interesting comment about a month ago saying that at Cincy he had to run a up-tempo, high scoring offense to keep people in the stands. At ND, he said, he just needs to win games because the people will be there. Not sure if he will go back to his former UC style offense or not.

if he didnt get lambasted by baylor, he would have been.

also, i think there are like 4 COTY awards so some of you need to relax

He probably would have been if not for getting waxed by Baylor. That was a major blemish. Very good coach though.
