I agree. I searched for an image I've seen online before but a can't seem to find it. The image is a grown Christopher Robins putting Pooh away and a grown Calvin putting Hobbs away. Pooh and Hobbs say something like "don't worry we'll be fine." It was really "Sweet" as my SO says.
This book made my childhood better.

Indeed, this thread made me break out one of the books from the complete C&H, sipping on some whiskey and listening to Brubeck while I read. One of my life goals is to categorize every single strip and use one in every single one of my lessons. I'll use calvin to introduce topics ranging from hunter-gathers to supply and demand to bullying. I bet if I tried I could connect a strip somehow to everyone of my lessons.

And watterson's integrity really strikes me as well, something scarce seen nowadays.

I was shocked and saddened when C/H retired.
Looking thru all these panel almost has me in tears.
C/H and Far Side are the best comics ever.
Back in the day, Pogo and Lil' Abner were similar, but not as universally brilliant.
Such a shame there is nothing comparable today.
