The qualifications needed for Arkansas' head coach were pretty heavily debated on this board with many Arkansas fans saying they needed a nails recruiter (b/c in their words, paraphrased, Ark is a desolate wasteland devoid of any football talent) , a great QB developer and an innovative offensive mind.

That said Bielema is a pretty good coach but did Arkansas just hire Les Miles-lite without the hardware?

Is ocelot4ark predicting what the next 5 or so years will look like?

Arkansas already had Les Miles' offensive philosophy with Houston Nutt. It worked, sometimes, to around the same winning percentage miles enjoyed at OSU. Miles' philosophy won't work at Arkansas because he wouldn't get the athletes in the trenches needed.

If he's as big a dick as they say he is, they followed the formula to the letter. I can't wait to read the letter he leaves for his players when he sneaks out of Madison.

Which is even more laughable now that they hired a guy who flat out has never recruited.

All I said is we needed someone who could develop talent...which is why Miles wasn't a fit IMO.

Bielema can cuz he apparently doesn't recruit worth a shite.

Not sure yet. He is a proven winner and always fields a tough physical defense. If he can even get a decent recruiting class here he will do fine. He's a great evaluator of talent and turns 3 star linemen into first and second round pics. I think he will fit better here than most are thinking. Can't argue with wins and he has a better resume than most of the candidates that were on our "radar". Time will tell but I am actually pleasantly surprised by this hire.

To be fair, he has a far better resume than Les Miles when he was hired by LSU in 2005. But then again, Brett Bielema isn't walking into a program that was built by Nick Saban.

Most of the recent HCs at Arkansas have been total dickheads... So - Yes. He's a great fit.

I don't know that he is the right fit. I'm very underwhelmed by the hire.

If you think Miles would do jack shite compared to what Bielema did with similar talent then I don't know what to say
