I especially love it when I've got a big test or something coming up, and some education major talks about how they were coloring in class or how they had to make a simple powerpoint with no paper or anything to go with it. frick them.
Education majors suck balls. I had a real major and took education on the side as a minor. It's more the Elementary Ed majors that don't do jack shite. At LSU, we wrote a paper a week, plus 5 lesson plans and a unit plan

And $50k a year isn't bad when teaching at a school in the suburbs where parents actually are parents. Try making 40 or less at a school where kids would rather get in gang fights rather than bring a fricking pencil to class. And for the record I am not a teacher, but I am married to one and my mother was a teacher for 30 years.

Louisiana is ninteenth on our comfort scale with a starting salary of $39,880 and average salaries of $49,006. As this state recovers from Hurricane Katrina, the school system is offering incentives such a loan forgiveness to attract teachers. Due to lower starting salaries in this state, think about getting your master's degree as having one will advance your position on the pay scale. How do salaries grow in Louisiana? when you think about how behind LA has been technologically and facility wise, this is pretty dang good imo. We shouldn't be spending that much schools though. TOO MUCH

I agree, there's no way. My wife's school has at least double that in most classes thanks to budget cuts.

let's be clear about those numbers: they include special ed where there 4-5 students. Rural schools with less than 20 etc.

I also hate seeing classes like Talented Art and Music where the teacher has 2 off periods and 10 kids per class yet still gets all of the perks.

Just for the record, teachers don't get paid for 3 months off. They take their salary and divide by 12. Some people choose to divide it by 9 and not get paid over the summer.
