One is immediate financial benefit with the possibility of long-term career the other is basically "are we splitting the check tonight?" I don't ask about a guy's finances unless were are much further along than our first date.

I don't know what this means. I don't rank order my dates based on their political opinion or their income. I also don't choose a job based solely on the salary and benefits.

If he doesn't ask me on the first date, I don't care. If he isn't really that interested in those things in general, he probably doesn't care what I think either.
