St. Martinville is legit stuck in the 1960's. On an unrelated note, I was there one day at a shop that I got sent to from work, and a prisoner escaped, and they locked every place in that town down. I had to get back to Lafayette, so I just told the cops I'd take my chances walking the 10 feet to my truck.

Lived up there for ~3 months, and used to drive through town pretty regularly with classmates. We drove through the center part of town by the McDonalds one day, and there was a biker guy standing in the middle of the intersection with crotchless, assless chaps and a leather vest swinging around a chain. We sat there through 3 red lights watching him

Guy convicted of murder waiting to be transferred to Parchman escaped in Indianola once. Bunch of people my age were riding around in trucks with their rifles looking for him

They were motivated to succeed so they wouldn't have to go back.

My family is from Basile, LA.. Small butthole town outside of Eunice. They consider driving 10 minutes to Eunice to be "driving to the city" and everyone's homes haven't changed in decades.

Franklin is very depressing. Their Main Street is awful as far as business closures go. Who lives there these days?
