What he's really doing is setting himself up for future retaliation, whether it be at Vanderbilt or another school. It's happened before. If I were a coach I would always vote in such a way the invited the least amount of retaliation.

I could think of at least 3 teams that would beat them with ease.

It blows my mind that there's such a poll and it has major significance. Just go through those coaches polls and you can tell these coaches are voting with agendas.

All SEC coaches have Oregon at 5.
Most others have Oregon at 3.

Big Game Bob gave LSU one of its lowest rankings. Still sour grapes all these years later.

Last year, Saban voted Oklahoma State #5 and one Harris Poll voter ranked them #8 behind Houston. Les Miles also has a reputation for being one of the biggest hacks in the Coaches' Poll.

He's a notorious hack who voted Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas #1, #2 and #3 in 2007, the year LSU played Ohio State in the championship game.

That's a neat interactive bracket.

Be interesting to see the AP poll done that way as well.

And fricking Bob Stoops voted LSU #11, behind two teams we beat, and Oklahoma #6. Going to the Chick-fil-A Bowl doesn't allow us to show that jackass who should be ranked where.
