If you really want to get angry, understand that some people lie about income, not in the way most of you think (hiding income), but in making up income in order to qualify for earned income credit. You get more of the refundable credit than the tax on 10k. So claim you are a paid babysitter making 10k a year, and claim a couple of kids (not necessarily yours) and instant government check. I know of no IRS program to verify that people actually earn these lower income levels that they claim. Selling children for dependents is also common. Supposedly runs at from $300 to $500 a child, payable whenthe tax credit check comes in. And finally, yes, it is not limited to any race. I have a nephew who has done this for years. That is just some of common tax scams. Nothing to do with AFDC, food stamps, medical cards, etc. To fix our system we have to make it less attractive to not work or much more attractive to actually work. Why make minimum wage when you can just get a check?

You lie. Only rich people game the system.
