Obviously. BTW, when it comes to pipeline, I live it every day. In terms of green energy the fundamental reason it is not taking off is due to energy density or lack of. It simply cannot compete with denser forms of energy. It's not emotional, it's physics.

Meh, there will be ~500 permanent high paying jobs associated with the fixed asset and the asset alone will create 100s if not thousands of future capital and maintenance projects. But jobs is only the secondary reason to support the project. The primary reason to suppor this project is to protect environment from dirty bitumen (see I'm appealing to your emotional side). The bitumen is going to get produced regardless of the Keystone Pipeline...the Keystone Pipeline will however ensure that the bitumen gets refined in environmentally friendly refineries. Wouldn't you rather see the oil sands refined in "clean" refineries under the supervision of the US EPA rather than some third world country?

I completely agree with that, which is why I said earlier I'm not a 'green' guy.. and we are fricked when we run out of crude. I'm just not for growth for the sake of growth. We live with the mentality of a cancer cell.

Leaving it all alone would protect the environment. What you're saying is like sticking your dick in my mouth and saying you're protecting me from getting my arse fricked.

No we are not. Really, we're not fricked at all. I have total confidence in science and engineering to make emerging forms of energy more efficient and to discover new forms of energy. quote:

I really don't think Keystone falls into this category. Keystone has become a lightning rod and is silly at this point. We lay 1000 of miles of pipe a year in this country and Keystone is not going to change much. In fact while the fight goes on it's my understanding the pipe is being laid. The only section Obama has authority over is the US/Canadian crossing. I guess we'll just rail the oil sands across the border then ship it by pipe thereafter.

Solar fields the size of Nevada, Algae farms or whatever else we think of will not give us the dense energy we get from fossil fuels that took billions of years to create. I find it hilarious that I'm the ignorant one.. yet people on your side of the fence just have 'faith' that we'll find something to replace this stuff we are burning through. We have gone through billions of years worth of energy in about 300 years, and the majority of that has been burned in the last 40 years. I find it hilarious that people think we can keep this pace up.

Exactly. You wouldn't see it. If you did you wouldn't take the stance you take.

I think what we are talking about is a fundamental issue with our society of consumption. Maybe instead of finding ways to get more oil we should be thinking of ways to need less.

once again in spite of obama. What don't you get?
96% of NEW PRODUCTION since 2007 came from PRIVATE LANDS...not FEDERAL. I have posted the link here many times. You know it and I know it. Some are clueless though. and we all know about leases, acreage and permitting on FEDERAL LANDS being down compared to W. That link has been posted a million times here also.

Completely meaningless information...pumped out during the election and parroted by know-nothings ad nauseum.

Agreed. I assume you also think instead of raising taxes we should find a way to spend less?

Your objection is noble, it's simply not reality. My best advice is every morning look in the mirror and repeat "the Earth is not a pussy." That's about all anyone can do for a person with your position
