Ok Hog fans...Why not Charlie Strong?

I know we all have our wish list but why not Strong?
Arkansas guy (recruiting connections)
Excellent defensive mind.
His players play extremely hard for him.
Last night his team won on guts with 1 walk on QB and 1 that has a bum ankle and a broken wrist.
That was impressive to me. Oh, and it was on the road too with a BCS berth on the line.
.....and against a team WE lost to at home this year as well.
I'd like to hear the Pros and Cons...

Strong would be a good hire for any of the current SEC job openings.

Strong has been very loyal to Louisville, thus far. Some teams tried to go after him last year and either he or his AD completely rebuffed them.
No matter what, Louisville would try to match any offer made. Might have to offer him something they simply can't match.
That being said, Tennessee would be STUPID not to go after him. He's perfect for their job and would be a home run for the Arkansas job with the exception of the fact that he hasn't recruited Texas.

Being a black guy doesn't help much but he has a white wife. That's still a big deal for some people and supposedly it was what kept him from getting jobs before Louisville

I believe Charlie Strong is a really good coach but I don't believe we need to take a chance with him at this time. We can't afford to screw up this hire and I'm just not completely sold on him. A couple more years and I would feel more confident with my assessment.
Jeff Long will hire whomever he wants and hopefully he understands how critical this hire is.

If he decides to leave Louisville, I would think South Carolina would be his destination.

i think he is a good coach. i beleive he could win at arkansas. but, i think we need to let him go to another sec school and get some sec expierence like say a tennesee or auburn. then make his way to a destination job like Arkansas
