if there's anything to be very excited about it's HOW they won. that's called giving your team a chance to win, something we wouldn't have seen under the previous staff. they'd have stuck to their guns, sat back in half court and lost by 20+.

we struggles with seton hall's pressure and zone in the first half and completely flipped the script in the 2nd half. they had no answer for the 1-2-1-1. johnny and shavon did a heck of a job getting their hands on the ball.

shavon deserves a ton of credit. not many kids nowadays are willing to do what he is doing for this team. he had a tough matchup most of the night with that mobley guy but made the most of it in the 2nd half. this particular team needs another difference maker in the frontcourt (help is on the way) but he is giving us everything he's got, and another strong game last night.

carmouche also deserves some props. we were able to turn them over quite a bit in the first half, just didn't get the finishing touches. defensively we were much better guarding them at the point of attack in the 2nd half but they still hit a few threes. they were hot but we found a way to win.

As some have pointed out, this team has yet to play a road game. Road games are another degree of difficulty even if you are playing an inferior team. Never doubt that us playing at home was a big factor in last night's game.

yeah, the boise game just got a lot mor einteresting after they defeated creighton and gave michigan st. everything they wanted.

last night is a very good platform for this team though. i wish they played again maybe sunday or monday but hopefully the extra rest benefits guys like hickey and coleman who played a lot of minutes. can only help johnny as well.

Absolutely. There is no doubt in my mind LSU loses this game with Trent Johnson on the sideline. The team showed a lot of character coming back down from a significant second half deficit. The press was very effective and should play a significant role this season due to lack of size down low and also plays to the strength of our players (outside Tuba of course).

Boise is gonna be a tough game. Shoot if we can keep that close I'll be happy. They have some serious weapons over there.

No doubt, any TV for this game? I think the Marquette and UCI games are winnable but still won't be easy away from home. It will be interesting to see how some of our guys handle their first few road tests.

A very good friend of mine who is a successful HS basketball coach and LSU fan saw this team in person opening night. He feels like the team is much better coached and has 4 very talented players. He thinks depth is an issue and they are 1 recruiting class away from being NCAA ready. However, with the SEC being down they do have an excellent chance. Hickey is an outstanding player but he's not the best in the country, maybe not even the best in the conference. Personally B.J. Young is more complete in my opinion. But that is coming from a Hog fan so take that for what it's worth.

I can say for certain that we (Arkansas) are stil one year away. I think this team will be borderline NCAA by seasons end but we lack the inside presence do deal with seasoned post players. That has been addressed in recruiting and next year could be fun to watch!

Good luck Tigers.... hope you win all but 2 games in the SEC!!!!!

Not a single one gave credit to LSU's great guard play. I wish I could post over there so bad, because I don't think they realize Hickey leads the SEC in steals.

As far as JOB getting triple teamed, the way we were shooting from three point land, I can't really blame the guy for doing work. He couldn't be stopped down low for the latter part of the game.

I love the way that CJJ really encourages the hot hand. He plays guys that are hot, sits guys that are cold, gives the guards free range to do what they do naturally (even Stringer, who played sloppy last night but has been on fire from three every other game). He even lets TUBA get the rock!

I think the biggest thing is that CJJ allows players to be confident and comfortable by letting them do what works. It doesn't seems like he forces anyone to do anything they aren't comfortable with.

i would hope we one of the better 68 teams in the country. Its impossible to have a bad year considering the changes we have made. After watching the team for 5 games i will be dissappointed if we don't make it though. They coming down on seton hall pretty bad on that board. They deserve it though because i have never seen that many turnovers in a row at the end of the game.
