1. I hate being a hater but Hickey isnt the best in the country. You havent seen the little white kid from Indiana, Peyton Siva from Louisville, the kid from Notre Dame who put a hurting on Kentucky, or much less a PG from down the street at UNO averaging big numbers with assist. However, I do think Hickey is the key to how far this team goes and has alot of potential.

2. Seton Hall was good but Florida, Alabama, Missouri, and Kentucky would have beat Seton Hall by 20.

3. I do like the press.

4. What?

5. Wrong. We have a bunch of athletes. You have a tuba player for the depth in the front court. This will prove to give us some losses when you face a point guard that attacks your best big man and puts him in foul trouble. And only 1 pg. Carmouche is the best thing outside of Hickey in controlling the tempo.

6. OK

Its too early young skywalker. This team has a small dorito on its shoulder and is playing decent. However, with their lack of "experienced talent," they will have to play perfect basketball to finish above .500 in SEC play and advance to the NCAA tourny.

at the kid that thinks kentucky would beat seton hall by 20. Didn't they just lose to Notre dame by 1000. Oh now i guess Notre dame is a powerhouse now.

1. We have hands down the best point guard in the country. He is a whole different player from last year and has the ability to get to the rim with NBA range shooting the three. He also has a pullup jumper off the dribble that he has added to his game that he is actually making. I watch aaron craft play multiple times and he may be a better on ball defender then hickey but he is not a better overall defender.

2. We have won a game against a good team when the shots just weren't falling, missed freethrows until the end of the game and turned the ball over. Only a good team can pull that feat off.

3. Our perimeter defense is unbelievable and the press will be a weapon for the rest of the season. I can't say enough about the combination of hickey and charles on the perimeter. If the other teams best player in on the wing or plays the point then he in for a bad game.

4. We dominate the teams we are suppose to beat. This the one that really gets under my skin!! LSU 5-0 because we haven't played anybody!! If we wouldn't have lost those 4 games against scrubbs last year we would have been in the tournament. I just don't understand how we can take wins for granted when just 2 years ago we couldn't beat anybody. Be thankful we have the ability to beat mississippi valley state.

5. The depth on this team is unbelieveable. We have 7 player's capable of leading the team in scoring any night. Coleman is one of the most versatile player i have seen at LSU. Johnny O was getting triple teamed lastnight and still didn't want to kick the ball back out. Even though he should have i loved the i can't be stopped approach.

6. The SEC is horrible this year and the only team LSU can't beat is prolly florida. Kentucky is talented but young and will lose there share of games in the SEC this year. Alabama is a good solid team we will have some epic battles with. The rest leave something to be desired and already been losing to the same type of teams we complain about beating.

I love the team CJJ has put together and the offense they run. The season just starting and the only place I see LSU going for here is up. I know I will get blasted for starting this tread but i will look like a god when we win over 20 games and finish in the top 5 in the SEC. We will rank in the top 25 at some point of the year too. YEAH I SAID IT

fjohns, I like where your head is at.

1. Hickey does many things good. I am not sure he is the top in the country, but his ability to get steals, assists, lead this team, and occasionally score when necessary are exactly what this team needs.

2. This point is why I did move my season prediction from 17-12 to 18-11, but I will say I think overall, 16 turnovers for a team that runs the way we did is actually very good. Keeping the turnovers in the mid-teens will be successful IMO.

3. I think this point really shows how good we will be next season. We don't have the depth this year to press as much as we want. We have over a week off so it was okay for this team to get crazy, but it couldn't last all season.

4. fair.

5. I don't think depth is the right word here... Its more like balance. At one point last night our lineup in the game had 4 players with 6 points and 1 with 5. That is balance my friend.

6. I agree that the SEC is down, which to me means that the SEC doesn't get bubble teams in. This will probably hurt us more than help. You gotta win big games to get in, and we don't get many chances at those cause the league will be down.

Overall, excited about the progress and hoping that we can make a arun!

Well they have finished near the top of one of the best conferences in the NCAA the past few years along with getting bid after bid to the tourny. Maybe a little more micro-reasoning.

7. It is early enough in the season to be optimistic. Enjoy it!

I knew you would south! I tried to go overboard with this after watching last year team win 18 games against a stronger schedule and a better SEC. Now go take a look at our schedule and see if you can't at least up that record to 19-10 for your boy

I think he is taking too much from last night. We will prob make the NIT, and may sneak into the tourney, but this team still has issues. They didn't play well last night and won. That is a good thing. But Seton Hall isn't a world beater, and our press will not be that successful most of the time. We won't be able to press that much and it won't work as well on the road I don't think. But all in all, last night was good for the program going forward. I'd like to see O'bryant pass more when he gets triple teamed like that.

seton hall with the 6 9 shooting guard that hit all those threes on us and that big bully down low?? Trust me they will win there share of games and make the tourney. It's hard to beat a good team on there home floor in college and that's why they lost

I don't see NCAA but stong NIT run is doable and there are a lot more SEC wins out there than at the beginning of the year.

Problem is, SEC is not that good in hoops this year and NCAA berths will reflect that. 500 in the SEC won't be good enough for NCAA berth but I think this team can go 500 in SEC

This road stretch will be very difficult but if LSU can win 2 of 3 against UC Irvine, Boise and Marquette that will be outstanding

Top 5 SEC team would be hard to leave out the tourney i don't care how week there schedule is.

Dude, no one here is denying they are exciting and competitive. No one is wishing they lose one of the next few games. You just need to be brought down to earth.

I certainly don't think it is fair to say I would "jump on the bandwagon". If anything Im driving the wagon. I still think there is a 10-15% chance of making the tournament, but I am being a realist here. As of now, I try to be as honest as possible. If I say I think we are gonna make the NCAA tournament you know I mean it. Which, when that time comes will mean more than saying it 5 games in when we have played 4 crap teams and 1 decent team at home.

I think we are building a solid program. Just because we may not make the NCAA tournament doesn't mean we have a bad year.

No need to build up lofty expectations 5 games into the season, only to be pissed at the players, coaches, etc. at the end of the year if they don't meet those expctations

This this this this this this.

See "Mettenberger, Zach" for reference points about building unrealistic expectations for players then being disappointed/pissed/homicidal when they don't happen right away.
