There's this thing, you may have heard about it: Supply and demand.

We had demand in April.

The SUPPLY in April was busted goods from Cambodia that no one else would poke with a stick.

So why the frick would you buy that broken shite, if you can just wait 7 months and buy something that actually works?

The JLS experiment was a gamble. It failed. Do you know what the alternative would have been? Promoting the RB coach to interim HC. A man with no real HC experience. That sound like it would have been a slam dunk either?

You lose a coach in motherfookin' April, you're going to have a bad time.

You can disagree with me, I get that. But I'm saying, I listened to Arky fans go on and on and on about having unlimited purse strings. I listened to constant speculation that it was going to be John Gruden. If you are a big time football program, you can hire an elite coach at any time of the year. Because big name coaches will leave whatever they are doing, at any time, to step up to a major university.

Names?

JLS was really the best option to try and salvage the season and not end up stuck with someone we didn't really want for 3-4 years. Got to look long term in coaching searches can't make knee jerk reactions and hiring anyone to a non interim HC position in April would have produced a knee jerk hire we all would regret.

The reason Arky will make the best hire is because when he wins the Liberty bowl game they can claim he "overachieved historical expectations"

It was either hire JLS as an interim for 10 months or hire a shitty coach for 3-4 years, who would probably be the only type to leave his school in April.

I'd gladly take the interim route.

That pretty much sums up Arkansas, Top 5 talent(or so we've been told) and that is the best options you have. No wonder they have never won shite.

You poor Arky fans. I guess you have to tell yourself anything to excuse what happened.

Top tier teams can hire better coaches than John L. fricking Smith, anytime of the year. Anytime.

But keep telling yourself he was the best option available. And that you're a top tier SEC program. Keep telling yourself that.

I never heard an explanation as to why Ohio State was not able to immediately able to replace Tressel with anything other than an interim head coach.

I'll wait.

Suga, read all my posts in this thread. I don't know how to state it any clearer. Honestly, outside of Arky fans, I don't think anyone else disagrees. I'm not flaming, or trolling. Just stating what I think the rest of the conference sees, but Arky is blind about.

Just like Tennessee fans, when they hired Kiffin. Everyone nicely told them it was a mistake. They were blind, though.

Don't have any idea if they were able to, or not able to, or chose to.

I just know that they did not hire an abortion at any time by the name of John L. fricking Smith. That is a fact.

So both went with an interim, but your problem is with who Arkansas chose as their interim.

This sounds like your problem.

I'm curoius to know who you expected UA to hire in April? Bring up an Asst Coach that was already on staff? Go after a head coach at another program without even conducting an interview/research process? Go after an old coach that was unemployed? (i.e. Phil Fulmer) I don't even think Fulmer would have taken a 10 month gig at Arky, I think he'd have wanted the permanent job.

Petrino screwed more than just the blonde chick, he screwed his former employer in the arse. The timing of the whole fiasco was horrible.
