Meh, why not go ahead and interview and research? You can do that even in April.
Who says we didn't. The point is that no top-notch coach was willing to abandon his current school.
Usually, those programs don't struggle making an offer to any coach, at any time, and convincing them to leave their current gig for something better. Isn't that pretty much how y'all hired Petrino?
And he was fricking CRUCIFIED for it. No coach worth a shite was going to leave his current employer high and dry in APRIL, leaving THEM to have to scramble to put together a staff. If you think otherwise, you're a moron (already established). But when you consider how common knowledge it has become that Petrino was ROASTED for leaving before finishing his commitment, you honestly think good coaches were chomping at the bit to go through that? Really?
Better option that what was chosen.
Hiring Phil Fulmer for 5 years would have been better than sacrificing 1 season, and ultimately hiring someone BETTER than Phil Fulmer? Because that's what's going to happen.
Boy, you Arky fans will convince yourself literally of anything to justify why your school hired John L. fricking Smith.
We don't have to justify anything, retard. It's fricking reality. Name me ONE instance of a top coach leaving his school after March. One time. JLS sucks. You don't have to convince us of that. But the choice wasn't: JLS, Patterson, Petersen, Gruden, Miles, etc. The choice was: JLS, Tim Horton (rb coach), or some unknown coach from a FCS school equivalent.
It's better to be coach poor for 7 or 8 months. NOT THAT WE HAD ANY OTHER OPTION. Because, well, you know - COACHES DON'T LEAVE THEIR JOBS IN APRIL.
