I typically do it alot 
Usually cause someone is saying so much so fast.
But then they proceed to give me the "if you can huh, you can hear"

People do it out of habit. I do get some people that laugh and apologize and say that that is a habit that they are trying to break. Some people are put out though, but they get the message and it doesn't happen nearly as often with them.
Some people have even said that their new years resolution was to quit saying huh after they knew they heard what the person said.
If I have to be a martyr...so be it.

I hate it too. I always say nevermind or forget it. It pisses them off. Most times they do hear it. They then want to answer it. I stick with nevermind.
Idiots piss me off. Needless to say after the election, I hate most of America.
