I submit that one of them is the right to health care.
Then it should have been spelled out in the Constitution, not the ACA. I want to know what my "Rights" are? Where are they enumerated? Certainly not in the ACA.

Force others to pay? PPACA requires you to buy your own insurance.

I think one of the myths is that we are paying for poor black people's healthcare under the law. I hear that a lot from my buddies at the deer camp.

You're joking right? You think $400-$600 a year comes anywhere close to covering costs? I suppose the huge annual tax on insurance companies or the tax on private insurance policies has absolutely nothing to do with offsetting and shifting the cost burden lol. Come on man if you're not going to be honest about things that are obvious then no one is going to take you seriously. The penalty for not purchasing insurance is paltry in comparison. Ultimately providers, states, and private insurance is going to get hosed and left holding the bag.

They are nowhere enumerated in toto (that would be "Totally; entirely; completely" ).

That's why we have the 9th Amendment.

I personally feel that with PPACA being passed, doctors should turn away 100% of their patients that cannot pay a single penny, from this point on, call it "weeding out the filth" if you will. I have to pay a deductible when I go to the doctor, now your sorry arse will as well, if you can't pay up, goodbye. I really hope we start seeing the filth turned away, because more people that can actually afford it, have insurance, and medical cost go DOWN, because everyone is being paid up.

But with little or no recourse for those who don't.

Can't punish those who have never paid taxes to begin with. Also they are little to no recourse in the bill to force those to pay.

How do you require those to pay who don't pay taxes? Your buddies are right and wrong..there well be plenty of every type of poor person that we will now be paying for.

Devil is in the details.

Hence the problem. If I don't know what my rights are, how can I exercise them?

No, I just find it more gratifying to converse with more intelligent, level-headed souls like TA. Sorry, no offense.

Why don't you go ahead and just carry on without me. Thanks.

Translation.....I can't answer because that would mean I would have to give details. Better to speak in general terms like Healthcare. It leaves it open to interpretation.

Carry on..hack.

Thanks for playing.

Oh no offense taken, trust me. It is easy to spot your kind. First call names, then deflect, then change subject.
Thanks

do you know the difference between health care and health insurance?

He seems to ignore that question. It is easier for him to do so to prove his de facto point!

Again, why the 9th Amendment?

If the framers saw that we may have rights beyond what were enumerated in the Bill of Rights, how did they see us recognizing them? Discourse and debate? The Courts?

Hmmm...

What if YOU were considered to be filth? Would you agree to be "weed[ed] out"?

absolutely, especially under the PPACA, which will now give doctors even more rights to do so. They will have 20% or more new patients, now they have more reason to turn away those that do not have. Simple Capitalistic world we live in. You don't have the $$, then goodbye to you. If you don't want this, should have pushed for the public option more

We have a right ot life. Okay, so if I have a life-threatening illness, I have a right to have that illness cured if it's possible. Right?

I think you are confusing "right" with "option". You have the option to get yourself cured. The free market allows us options of where to get cured, in an industry that "chose" to heal people.

People forget the bottom line of PPACA: that everyone is entitled to healthcare as human beings.

No one has been denied healthcare in the US in 2 generations. Your premise is invalid.

unless I had a pre-existing condition, then I had to pay out my arse to get the inhaler because insurance wasn't about to pay for an inhaler, for the asthma I was born with.

But we cannot design a system worthy of positive legacy until we (at least reasonable people) can agree that health care is a basic right.

Health care is not a right.

Otherwise you get the shite we're currently stuck with - and which is driving us to bankruptcy.

Please explain, how expanding the current system to cover every citizen of this country is going to somehow be fiscally cheaper? Obamacare is Medicare on steroids. You think medicare is a waste? Try having the federal government try to manage healthcare for all? How, in the blue frick, will that be cheaper?

It doesn't matter that every pie in the sky entitlement program the Democrats have thought up have proven to be abject failures.

They mean well. I'm sure that will be a great comfort to all those who are going to suffer in the coming storm.

I am sorry about your asthma, but why in the hell should I have to pay for your inhaler? For that matter why should a insurance company?

You couldn't afford it, sorry. What if there were no such thing as an inhaler? Who paid for that to be discovered?

re: History will be kind to Barack Obama, mainly because of PPACA

They don't. Legislatively (which the ACA is), we are subject to the vaguries and discretionary and arbitrary will of Congress.

Congress can simply take those "rights" away at any time for any reason. Which is why they aren't actually Rights at all.

You might want to do some reading on the 9th amendment. Your interpretation doesn't match most scholars. It's not directly considered a source of rights. Just a provision to recognize that the rights enumerated in the original BofR are not the only rights from which Constitutional rights can be constructed. IOW: If healthcare is considered a right, it's not excluded from becoming a Consitutional amendment as a right because it wasn't included in the first eight. It's doesn't mean Consitituional rights can simply be decreed by legislation.

Again... what's the problem with putting it in as a Constitutional amendment if it's indeed a right? It's odd to me that those claiming it's a right object to it's inclusion. That should tell you something.
