I have a apache black nylon 77. Really accurate fun gun. My father bought it for me as my first gun in 1978 and I just taught my 6 year old son how to shoot using it over Thanksgiving. Blast. The only gun I would never sell.
(FYI- They stopped production on these in the early 80's)

The Browing takedown. A basic Grade I will probably run you around five hundred dollars
Levers
There are only two worth considering. One is the Browning BL 22. This is a really nicely done little rifle that is very light and handy. Its one fault is that it has one of the heaviest triggers you'll ever see until you get it broke in well.
The other is the Marlin 39. This is the Cadillac of lever action .22s. However, it is a full sized rifle and with the according length and weight. Once broken in, it is slicker than iced snot.
Bolt Action
The only one worth considering that is commonly available anymore is the CZ 452 and the variants thereof. It is very handy and accurate and feels like a rifle. A very nice rifle for practicing for your big game bolt.
Hawgon "took the words right out of my mouth!" I'd also add the Henry Golden Boy to the list. I've been thinking about a CZ or Golden Boy for myself.
