"It's a town full of losers, and I'm pulling out of here to win."
Bruce- Thunder Road

"Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse"
Bruce- The River

"It's better to burn out, than fade away"
Def Leppard- Rock of Ages

"I'd rather laugh with sinners than cry with the saints, the sinners are much more fun"
Billy Joel- Only the Good Die Young

"Back when you, when you were my darlin
I didn’t mind to lose a little sleep
I didn’t mind to do a little walkin
Reputation never meant that much to me

How do I find that old familiar feeling?
The one that carried me so many years ago
Fun was dominos and 7Up and Seagram’s
Thing were simple then just movin nice and slow

Ain’t it strange?

Well, ain’t it strange?

Well I had no clue, I’d be the boy who
Your momma warned you about
Well I had no clue, I’d…be the boy who
Your momma warned you about

Well, that old scene is always comin to me
I see you standin with your husband and your child
And you’re a picture of strength, and grace and beauty
And me I’m just a fool in a super market aisle

Well I, well know hello would surly end up awkward
I never had the knack for talkin any way
You’re not the kind for bending over backwards
Smile and turn my shopping cart around and walk away"

I don't know why you want to tell me
when I'm right or when I'm wrong.
It's the same thing, in your mind, the only time
I'm right is when I play along

Mamma once told me, "You're already home when you feel loved."

- The Head and the Heart

So simple, yet so damn true.

Pink Floyd's lyrics are deep as can be. Most of their albums have an entire plot that each song spells out. Pure artistry.

Honestly, you could probably have a 5 to 10 page thread on Pink Floyd lyrics alone. Another beautiful PF song:

"On The Turning Away"

On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won't understand
"Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
The turning away"

It's a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting it's shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud

On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite
In a silent accord
Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerised as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night

No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
No more turning away?

Woke up this morning tasting Jim Beam
Holding the answer to some ole boy's dream
Got a bad reputation, yes I'm a live wire
I like my whiskey on ice and my women on fire

Hank Jr.

Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
Then I washed my face and combed my hair
And stumbled down the stairs to meet the day.

I'd smoked my mind the night before
With cigarettes and songs I'd been picking.
But I lit my first and watched a small kid
Playing with a can that he was kicking.
Then I walked across the street
And caught the Sunday smell of someone frying chicken.
And Lord, it took me back to something that I'd lost
Somewhere, somehow along the way.

On a Sunday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleeping city sidewalk
And Sunday morning coming down.

In the park I saw a daddy
With a laughing little girl that he was swinging.
And I stopped beside a Sunday school
And listened to the songs they were singing.
Then I headed down the street,
And somewhere far away a lonely bell was ringing,
And it echoed through the canyon
Like the disappearing dreams of yesterday.

On a Sunday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleeping city sidewalk
And Sunday morning coming down.

Kris Kristofferson

Hello,
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone home?
Come on Now
I hear you're feeling down
I can ease your pain
Get you on your feet again
Relax I'll need some information first
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move
But I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like
Two balloons
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain
You would not understand
This is not how I am

I... Have become comfortably numb
O.K.
Just a little pin prick
There'll be no more aaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working
Good That'll keep you going through the show
Come on It's time to go
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship's smoke on the horizon
You are only coming through in waves
Your lips move
But I can't hear what you're saying
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone
I... Have become comfortably numb

This and just about every other PF song

Well if she wants to see me
You can tell her that I'm easily found
Tell her there's a spot out 'neath Abram's Bridge
And tell her there's a darkness on the edge of town
There's a darkness on the edge of town

the boss, darkness on the edge of town

I guess i'll be going, the whiskey's all gone
The crows will give Lola my message at dawn
If she gets lost and lonely i'm easily found
Just take the straight and narrow wayward and down

cory branan, wayward and down

If you feel that song, odds are you have been through some stuff. One of my favorites, in a bittersweet way.

He surrenders to his fate
It is hiding him
From he sounds of his mental state

...And the rain pours down

It is fair to say
That he drifted
On the salt of the open sea
And the words that bleed in his mouth
Carry him, drag him to the deep

I come from the nation of heat

I cup the window
I'm crippled and slow
For the agony
I'd rather know
bon iver, blindsided

You said "Ain't this just like the present
To be showing up like this"
As a moon waned to crescent
We started to kiss
And I said I know it well
bon iver, blood bank

I tell my love to wreck it all
Cut out all the ropes and let me fall
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Right in the moment this order's tall
bon iver, skinny love

Whiskey's harder to keep than a woman and it's half as sweet but
Women without whiskey, Women without whiskey
Whiskey is hard to beat
