re: So this game, sadly, is on Brees

I agree, but I don't think Carmichael went away from the run because somebody slipped him Andy Reid's playbook, though. We got down 14 and had no choice. While i do think our line played well in the first half. Its still relative. We weren't actually running the ball well, the effort was just being made. Its hard to stick with that down 14 though. With it being so tough to put together drives against them and their ability to chew up clock on offense, possessions were going to be limited so I dont know that trying to pound it for 2 yards a pop with Ingram would've gotten us anywhere.

Were we do agree is that I think we can hold up against those guys as long as we have have a lead or are in a 1 possession game. Those just are the games we've been in against them these last 2 times.

We were running the ball well enough. While they could stop it (sometimes) if it was obvious, we were still getting 3-5 yards on some runs, which is enough to make the defense respect it. That's all Brees needs. With a little bit of play action bite he can shred up the secondary. If they aren't the least bit scared of our run, it's a whole lot easier to shut us down.

Yeah. It was enough for them to respect it in the first half. But when we got down, those same 2,3,4 yard chunks dont really do much for you other than drain the clock.

We went from being up 14-7 with seconds left in the 2nd quarter to down 28-14 less than 5 minutes into the 3rd.

That long drive was an aggravation. Having a 4th string in there trying to defend Brees against a great pass rush doesn't help.

We play those first four games again and we win at least 3 if not all 4. the KC game is biting us in the arse hard..its rare for a pick 6 but two in one game is like..,damnit that hardly ever happens to us.

I understand what you are saying but being down just 14 isn't a large enough deficit to abandon the run or your original game plan period. Actually, the drive where the lead was cut to 28-21 was what was needed later in the game. There were some effective runs on that drive & the play calling was mixed up well.

I'm sorry about how things went earlier in thread. I apologize. I hope you have a clear explanation of why I feel why the offense was outcoached more then being out manned.

This is exactly why our O line suddenly evaporated and the game got way out of hand. Goes to show that you need to stick with the game plan, especially if it's working (!).

As frustrating as it was it didn't help that Moss interfered with Jenkins on the goalline to prevent an int. If Moss doesn't interfere, the 49ers don't get points there & its still a one possession game at that point. Let's face it, the 49ers got all the breaks today which happens from time to time. Our defense wasn't even aware enough to jump on a damn fumble by their FB in the 1st half.

Its small things like that which cost a team a game in the end.

That PI on Morgan was HUGE. If that call goes our way, we likely tie the game there. Instead we punt and they go on that long FG drive that drained the clock. Brees had no shot when he got back on the field.

Its cool. I stay out of TD.com "arguments" but I could tell you knew what you were talking about so I was trying to understand where you were coming from. I got you now.
I just think we've seen this oline play against every top front 7 in the league over the past 5+ years and this team is the only one that has made them look like this, now, twice. They've had some other duds(STL last year) but never looked this helpless when it mattered. Im sure scheme has something to do with, but I think the credit goes to their players. You put any combo of our front in their scheme today vs our offense and I think Brees shreds them. We dont have their athletes.

Their front 7 is scary and their secondary literally knocks people out. When Brees was lucky enough to get a pass off, it was target practice for those guys in their secondary.

Miners had Zero sacks in first half, Drew's horrible decision to throw basically ithrow into quadruple protection just completely turned this game around. What would of been a halftime lead quickly turns to a tie game with 22 seconds left in the half, and that was completely on Drew Brees. That terrible decision basically turned the entire game against us and gave the Niners all the momentum they would need. They second pick was just a badly ball thrown too high, that pretty much marked the end of the game. After those two pick 6's, this team just basically quit. Bad blocking, poor decisions on what to do with the ball in Bress's hands.

As great as Brees is and no matter how much we love him as fans, he makes sum bonehead decisions in every game, some cost us and some dont, but he cost us quite a bit with this one! Terrible refsrefusing to call pass interference didn't help any. Even tho they called one on us, After our guy had been grabbed an yanked on first! Just a brutal game to sit thru, from all directions!

Its a combination of both where good players & good coaching schemes make for a good defense.

Do you know the 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, was a defensive coach during the Dome Patrol years? So yeah, he knows a lil something about putting talented defensive players in positions to succeed.

I guess I was a bit frustrated after the loss but even more frustrated with the "tards" who spew absolute garbage on the board especially after losses. I see you do have a grasp for the game & I was in the wrong earlier.

I found this coach (harbough or whatever] to be a manipulating liar..steadily bullying and harassing the officials who should have shut him up with penalties. Per the plan, the intimidated officials didn't call a lot of the endless cheating. This SF coach has replaced the Atlanta coach as the focus of my disgust.

The bad calls overlooking the cheating that took out the badly needed Lance Moore and finally added up to that long long long a_ _ed drive took the game from us (even though our stout defense held them to 3.)

Drew had made up for the interception before the half pulling us to within seven points. I'm blaming confused referees cowering to a screaming bully who protected his cheaters with distraction.

The game's a shame..

You really think the officials give a shite what harbaugh has to say? They aren't intimidated by him. They deal with that kind of shite every week.

I counted 1 bad throw. The INT that went right to the guy. The other INT was 100% pure luck/bad luck. The problem was our WR couldn't get open and our OL couldn't block.

..with the screaming already loud enough in the stadium, this coach pulled every trick in the book to influence the referees...it didn't take much to be unignorable in this heated "playoff atmosphere". [Watch it again if you can get a copy.] The crap this guy did was timed to distract when the focus should have been on player behavior...over and over this "win by any despicable means necessary" coach distracted from the dirty play SF brought to this stadium.

Marcus gets shock attacked,Lance gets beat up...on and on. Rewatch the game if you can..this was a carefully orchestrated freakout act planned for this night..in this stadium..for this game.

A dirty cheater manipulating the refs..you betcha.
