I know I am probably going to get slammed for my feelings on this movie but I watch movies to be entertained. Don't really care to critique them unless it is over the top bad.

The movie def had some weird ... Okay what moments ... But overall I liked it. I would definitely go see a J.C. 2 in theatres. Anybody else feel this way?

BTW, I just saw it for the first time hence my late posting about it.

I just watched it for the first time last weekend too and thought it was worth my time. I don't think Disney promoted this well because I don't see why it flopped like it did. Not saying it was Pirates good but it wasn't that bad.

I spent money to watch it on demand. I don't regret that decision. I thought it was a decently fun movie.

It was a great movie, a lot of sci-fi concepts came from the precedence set in john carter back in the day.. you shouldn't find too many people against the movie on the board.

I liked it when I saw it in theaters. I'm not sure why it flopped either.

Also, the princess was smoking hot.

Like it

Not sure if the timing of the release (March 9) had anything to do with the failure, but I remember seeing a preview around the Super Bowl last year and was excited to see it. Worth watching. I agree - wish they would make a sequel.

Just watched on cable with my boys the other day...yeah, it was alright. I think one of the major issues was that it seemed to take FOREVER to get the story moving...must have been nearly 30 minutes before Carter got to Mars. And for a movie that ran 2:15 there seemed to be a ton of stuff that was just never explained well.

And the princess was unbelievably hot...

I enjoyed the movie as well. It did have a really bad marketing campaign tho, I remember thinking to myself how bizarre it looked.

I've said it in other threads about this movie:

Disney cannot plaster its brand on something and expect it to lend credence to the movie. If the movie is to be sci-fi, PG-13, and have a bunch of action in it, Disney should keep its name away from the opening of the trailer. It makes it seem like it will be a kids movie.

In the case of John Carter, my understanding is that it's kind of like Pirates in that it should have universal appeal. The problem is: if you make it seem like a kids movie, the adults don't want to see it, so you better capture the younger audience; but if you advertise with a depressing song about your body being a cage, you aren't going to capture the younger audience. So you lose both audiences immediately. Stupid.

I like what everyone's opinion in here is.

The movie actually made me want to read Burrough's work! So I bought the first book of his John Carter series...or is it Mars series?

I really enjoyed this movie. I actually like it more than the last Pirates of the Caribbean.

I would definitely go see a sequel.

I agree that it wasn't that bad. I wasn't ever bored during it really. I would watch a sequel, but wouldn't pay to see it at theaters, however I probably only go to the theater 4-5 a year max
