Of course they are making it poorly - they are reduced to gangs as representation. Their leaders, throughout time, are systematically assasinated by the State of Israel. There will be no diplomacy, because it will not be tolerated.
Good point! It seems that whenever a charismatic Palestinian leader emerges who seems to have the ability to unite the Palestinian and give them a single voice, like Mandela did for Black South Africans, Israel either assassinates him or imprisons him indefinitely without trial. Israel's worst nightmare is a united Palestinian populace.

I guess if one emerges who renounces violence, that will be a good starting point. "Charismatic" usually means violent in that world. Israel seemed to have been working with Abbas. Gaza rejected that in favor of Hamas - I take that as a referendum against unity and a vote for "war with Israel". I guess they're getting what they asked for.

Or hangs them out to dry, the Israeli intransigence in implementing the Oslo accords brought Hamas to power after the PA working with the Zionist entity was co-opted and got zero in return for its compliance. israel doesn't want stable neighbors or peace it wants the land, and as long as we enable their behavior there will be no just peace.

Zero? All the settlements in Gaza were dismantled - they had a PA police force and government set up - barely functioning (and even less effective) - but the beginnings were there.

Why did they leave Gaza if they wanted the land?

They don't want Gaza it sucks, they want about 65% of the west bank, they want to leave the Palestinians nothing but a series of discontinuous remnants of land with no viability.

Cleverly produced. Nice sound effects. The jets must be right next to the microphones.

What happened when Sharon unilaterally disbanded Jewish settlements? Here's a hint, it involves mortars being fired indiscriminately into civilian areas.

Why should they renounce violence before they get a deal? Mandela never renounced violence, nor the IRA before the Good Friday Peace Accords, nor Irgun before Israel was created.

History says there will be no peace if Israel gives the land up. Current Arab behavior reinforces that suspicion.

Perhaps because they want to live?

You mean like Yasser Arafat who fought and then made peace with Israel for like 40 yrs???????? You mean the same charismatic leader Arafat , whom Israel could have snapped like a twig at any time...you mean Israel didn't assassinate him or imprison him??? Your flaming of Israel is a joke

Agreed. The entire point is to beat your adversary to the point which they no longer want to fight. Too many rules in modern warfare.

I was just lecturing my students on that - when the Age of Reason hit, rulers and military commanders sought to "tame" warfare - and the rise of so-called "limited" war marked a decided change on the battlefield and at the negotiating table. This current era of very restrictive ROE is an outgrowth of that.

Because violence is clearly not getting them anywhere. Do you see this leading to peace or independence? The people firing rockets don't care about the Palestinian people, they care about their own cause, and killing Israeli's. ISrael doesn't indiscriminately kill civilians. They drop leaflets telling people to avoid being around Hamas fighters, and then try to kill Hamas fighters. THey don't just fire rockets indiscriminately. What else should they do besides just appease terrorists. almost 3x as many Hamas rockets have hit their own people as have actually hit ISrael. No one seems to care about that.
