Lawrence Kasdan wrote on both The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi, and was man of the match on Raiders of the Lost Ark. He’s also the writer-director of several films I love, from Body Heat to Grand Canyon and now, Deadline believe, he’s on Lucasfilm’s wish list for their revitalised Star Wars plans. There’s a compelling character arc for you.

Also sought after, according to the same report, is Simon Kinberg, co-writer of some X-Men pictures, including the next one, and such mid-rung genre fare as Mr. And Mrs. Smith
quote:
The Hollywood Reporter say that the deals have been locked and that Kasdan and Kinberg are now on board. What isn’t set, just yet, is which of them will write which episode. They will both also receive producing credits – and presumably do some producing work. Officially speaking.

I knew Disney wouldn't disappoint.

They're not fricking around with this movie. They're hell bent on this not being another prequel disaster.

Disney is so freaking awesome.

It's a step in the right direction. I really hope that Disney hires directors that insist on using at least some practical FX.

Oh thank goodness, I'm glad they are taking this production seriously. It should be amazing.

I could get over the disastrous prequel trilogy but what I will never get over is the shite storm that was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. When I saw that I knew Lucas was out to get me. Spielberg didn't even want to make the damn thing.

I was so mad when this was first announced that they were making the Star Wars sequels, but now I'm incredibly pumped up. May be more excited for this than "The Hobbit".

Eh, since Disney did the new Tron, which I kind of liked, I may get my hopes up a little for this.

This will be the first midnight showing I see since King Kong in 05.

Maybe this a sure sign that Disney is not screwing around.
