Nah. I've spent several days recruiting on their campus. It's different, no doubt. But you'd have to be small to despise them. It boils down to this: their ROTC culture is anachronistic. They've become pugnacious about that oddity. Add to this an inferiority complex from looking up to the Longhorns for half a century and you get a bit of a bunker mentality, and as Churchill said of the Germans, they are either at your feet or at your throat. There's something not quite right there, but it's eccentric not despicable.

This is going to come across too harshly, so please keep what I am about to say in the context of "friendly rivalry". I'm mostly just poking fun, but I have degrees from both TAMU and LSU, so I've spent more than a few days on the TAMU campus. I have friends on the faculty and others who are graduates. I stand by my assessment. To say that their culture is anachronistic is being kind. Perhpas it takes more than several days for the backwardness to sink in, but look beneath the facade and you'll see the righteous paranoia that fuels Aggie pride. I'm speaking of the culture, not any individual. There are genuinely good people at TAMU, but as an institution they are easy to hate (in the sporting sense of the word only, of course)
