She made a great shot on this spike. 131 yards in the timber. One proud papa!

We had doe all over us all evening, but she wouldn't shoot because they had "babies" with them.

my thoughts exactly. I cringed just looking at it.

Looks like she is holding it out away from her.

very nice, glad to see all the dads are bringing their girls on the stand

she is not holding the rifle, she has both hands on the deer, one holding each spike...
I am not trying to flame here, nor take away from the young hunter's accomplishment, and i am sure dad made sure the gun was not loaded for the pic. I just think the pic could have been composed a little better. Perhaps lay the rifle across the body of the deer. That is the kind of picture that anti gun/hunting nuts take out of context and have a field day with. I will just leave it at that.
Again, sincere congratulations on her great shot and kill.

She's not touching it, and it seems to be propped up with the muzzle somewhere between around her neck. Surely it isn't leaned up against her, loaded or not. I was raised by a gun safety freak I noticed that before the deer.

Thanks for the congrats guys. Rifle was unloaded before climbing out of the stand, but agree, this quickly taken photo in the field could have been set up better.

congrats to your baby girl
but this picture is an excellent talking point for gun safety. teach her that you treat every firearm as if it were loaded and ready to fire.
i'm not trying to take anything away from your daughter's accomplishment, but perhaps a chat about safety would do no harm
