re: Chicago during Thanksgiving-Wednesday Update (Posted on 11/18/12 at 6:29 am to Cold Pizza)
Coldest thanksgiving of my life was spent in Chicago. Do the Hancock observatory at night. If its clear, visibility is 60 miles. There is a christmas parade on Michigan ave but the year we went it was so windy the balloons were kept at ground level. Temp was in the low teens and the wind was 30+. Shedd and water tower are great as well as the museums mentioned. Lawry's is A+.

It's a bit off the path, but there's a restaurant called Big Star in Bucktown that is my favorite restaurant in the entire world, and I'm not even slightly exaggerating.
I've lived in dozens of countries and cities from Belgium to Australia to New Orleans and San Diego, and nothing comes close to this place. It's beyond delicious.
I used to live in Chicago, and now I purposefully schedule meetings in Chicago solely so I have an excuse to go back for some Big Star. You will not be disappointed!
