They have a feud? Fill me in. I've been on a Block kick for a while; I work with him. I've only recently subscribed to Stefan's youtube channel. I love his video responding to Jon Stewart: LINK

I work with plenty of people who talk just like this. I won't even begin to discuss politics at work because of it.

No one talks politics around here, even the politicians unless it's necessary. Pretty grateful for that.

Nice quality of life. You would dig it...Very laid back. Nothing is more important than enjoying life, folks generally have a healthy outlook on that around here. I come here for my politics, no one cares enough to talk about it around here. I don't mind, really.

Can't begin to imagine what in the hell kind of work I'd do up there, but I'm not thinking I'd miss Louisiana much at all. Every time I come here for politics I wonder why I even bother; same shit, different day. Turns out I like to self-mutilate though and this board is my apparent weapon of choice.

My posting rate seems to be slowing down a little. I thought I'd be closer to 100,000 by now.

It's a whole different world, for sure. I volunteered with the red cross after Katrina and went back for a few months and hate to say, but reminded me of how I grew up there and never felt at home.

I ebb and flow. I've gotten to where I'll maybe make 15 posts in a month for a stretch and then I'll binge for a while. I think it's the natural progression until we all just ween ourselves and find other complete wastes of our time.

I won't get anywhere near New Orleans anymore. I truly detest the city--queue the resident New Orleanians to call me uncultured and ignorant about the city. Baton Rouge is just what I know. I'm sure if I got out of the confines of it for longer than a week or two vacation I'd realize just what I was missing elsewhere, but my job has pretty much got me locked up until something significant happens to change it.

Well, I love where I live but obviously it isn't for everyone. I think in the end we all are where we want to be, for different reasons. Funny, the town I live is by far the most liberal of towns in the state. Probably more far left than most liberals down south but strangely not nearly as irritating. I think there is less real hatred for the other side than in other places I have been. I've served on some boards and groups with them, and was probably the only real right leaning person in the group but got along with most of them.

I live in Baton Rouge and BR is just like NOLA. There's bad traffic, hood rats, drugs, crime, and corrupt government. The only real differences is that in New Orleans, you have pro sports franchises, roads that connect to form a grid, the best collection of restaurants in the world, more beautiful neighborhoods (not that Southdowns in BR isn't awesome), better concerts, better festivals, better music, better bars, and more/better jobs. Baton Rouge does have LSU and better suburbs, though.
