So your whole argument is that they couldn't succeed on their own because America would undermine them, not because they are incapable due to resources, culture, etc? That did not seem to be the issue being discussed. What action the United States would take was not really the question. Obviously you could argue that the United States would simply not allow succession at all and declare martial law. The question was, could LA or Texas be successful given a peaceful secession, thus, do they possess the resources, culture, and organizational capability. Is it tangibly feasible?

They would also not have any military of their own and would proabably be invaded for their oil.
lol. By whom? Now you are just throwing out random scenarios of foreign intervention.

The United States would outlast Louisiana if it started coming down to these shenanigans

I'm not going to comment on if they have a militia or not because I really don't know if they do But I think I'd take the USA's armed forces over theirs.

Well, yeah..I would too. In this mythical scenario that Tejas is granted statehood there would be no need for a war.

Do you have any idea how many military bases there are in Texas? Or how much of the military lists Texas as their home state? Texas would probably have a proportionally better army than the United States.

Are you aware of the amount of bases in the 2 states? Regardless, this is a peaceful seccesion.

And those military bases belong to whom? The state of Texas? Or the US government?

You really don't seem very familiar with how nations interact on the geopolitical stage. Some random nations are not going to invade Texas directly in the vicinity of the United States. Also, independent states tend to engage in this thing called "alliances."

With arms. And again, China is not going to invade Texas. Who are these mythical aggressors who are just dying to invade Texas and risk war with the United States in the process?

Why would the US defend a "nation" that just choose to leave?

For it's own security reasons.

Let's see Uncle Sam pack Ft. Hood onto a U-Haul and cart it up to Oklahoma. The infrastructure is there for good and lord knows Texans own enough guns to stock the armory.

Right, so those bases would be shut down, along with any other federal infrastructure. The state already receives more federal aid money than it pays in taxes.. That's gone, too. Offshore drilling in Federal waters, nope.. Louisiana could survive for a few years, then it would be begging to come back to reality. They better hope Obama doesn't take em up on it..
