If we kept our oil money, and controlled access to the Mississippi. . .I think we'd get by. Not that I support secession or anything.

Doesn't the federal government take a huge portion of our oil revenue and has for years? Some western states get over 90% of their mineral resource profits where as LA gets much less.

A lot of folks here in Texas are discussing withdrawal from the Union also...Obomit and his radical Dems should be so proud the fact that States are even considering leaving the United Socialist States Of America, but that is pretty much what the U.S is today-a Socialist Country...

It's going to take a lot more than Obama to get Texas to leave. If they start fricking with gun rights and 401k accounts while creating more entitlement it could happen, but everything now is just political dick measuring.

You're a complete idiot if you think it's a legit possibility and a lot of states are "considering" it.

Texas could do it, but never will. They could become an independent nation and make it work though.

Really it's what all the red states should do. We have a great divide in our nation and it's no coincidence that it's pretty much the North vs the South still.

There is, but we would get banned for saying it. That said, the idea has its appeal. We have the resources to have the rest of the country by its balls. Secondly, if we get into a war, the country will come in and rebuild us.

"peacefully?". Not in a million years would the US give up control of the mouth of the Mississippi River peacefully. They would kill every person in this state before giving the River to someone else. FACT.

If Louisiana got what Texas does on its oil production then we wouldn't need the Fed but our politicians have screwed us over through the years and raped our oil royalties severely.

How about red states keep what they have on their land and blue states keep what they have. We would have free buses to bring the democrats to the blue states if they wanted. Let the libs see first hand where there distribution of wealth is really going I bet they would be trying to bus them back in a few years. By that time maybe we could have found a middle ground and both agree to send the lazy democrats to the middle east.

You act like the blue states doesn't have it's share of leaches. It's just that people in the blue states are a different breed. There are liberal forums on Reddit I check out and some people there actually think our free market capitalistic system is unfair and needs to be done away with. It's scary to read how stupid these people are.

The us would attack and take new orleans first thing (this is what happened in the 1860's). How would louisiana protect all the offshore platforms in the immediate vicinity, not to mention the workers who come from all over. Louisiana has no gun, ammo, or powder producing facilities anymore, not to mention no more automotive factories either. We do have barksdale a some nukes so viva la revolution.

I can only suppose that the blue leaches aren't as bad as the red ones. Many red people I know are mostly red bc of the red Leaches. I want to move our leaches up north and see how the blue people like them. Hell I'd even trade our leaches for theirs.

High rate of gun owners in Louisiana can solve this problem. It would be rough for awhile but they would find out real quick who it better armed. I do no support secession but would absolutely love it if Louisiana told the fed to keep their entitlement programs aside from a few basic ones. I agree with someone else's list of Medicaid for elderly/children. Add WIC and an Unemployment program that actually follows the rules that they set forth and I could live with that.
