Gump weekend food experience

It is sort of a review, but mostly just my weekend food experience.
Mason's Grill-lunch Friday. I had a half dozen oysters and the cajun shrimp burger. Oysters were small but good. Ordered the burger medium rare. It was cooked perfectly. Overall it was very good, but could have been better. The jalapenos that were supposed to be cooked in the burger were either absent or so few that we couldn't taste them. It was advertised as spicy. Hardly was. The shrimp in the jack cheese were great. Bread was fresh and also very good. It just missed having some sort of bite. Some sort of sauce with an acidic kick would have been just the thing.
Combo King-Friday evening. I had the Kung Pao chicken. I thought it was very good, but if you are looking for sauce, forget it. Never had Kung Pao without sauce. I'd get it again though. Fun sitting outside on Chimes Street.
Chimes-Saturday lunch. Had dozen oyster and a bowl of gumbo. Oysters were great. Gumbo was just good. Tried the Macallen 12 for the first time. Not what I expected for scotch. Much sweeter and almost no bite. Good though. Biggest thing was the wait. Before you go off with the smartass comments, let me explain. We got there at 1130 and were told the wait was 1.5 hours. No problem. We went into the bar in the back, got a bloody mary and watched football. 3 1/4 hours later we got our table. Even that would not have been a big issue. The issue is that they are so clueless about times. It's not like this is their first time. It's a great game day place. 3+ hours is not terrible. But expectations need to be set up front.
Taco Bell Perkins Road-after game. My main issue is that it seems there should be some places open late after games other than fast food drive thrus. Line was horrendous. Didn't help to have one woman take 5 minutes (literally) to order. Then they handed 6 separate bags out the window and she paid for each one separately.
PJ's-Sunday Morning. Not a huge fan of their coffee, but I think it could grow on me. It has a slightly different flavor than what I am used to.
Worst part of the trip was having to even get out of the car in Alabama on the way home.

I've always had good experiences at the Perkins Taco Bell. I hate yours was subpar. Back in the day when the Taco Bell board of directors issued the directive ordering all their stores to immediately stop cutting the Mexican pizzas, Taco Bell Perkins refused. They continued to cut the pizzas for at least 18 months. And for that I will always be thankful.

I thought they were supposed to be cooking into the shrimp/cheese topping? At least that's what I remember.

They were great. It was that inconsiderate woman who messed it up.

I really don't understand why places aren't open after the game. Is it b/c nobody is sober enough to work? Just do like I do and get some Tiger Dogs to go. Since they don't have to go bags the plastic bags the cups come in work great.

Cooked into the burger and on top with cheese covering them. The burger isn't meant to be super hot, but supposed to have a little kick.
