Got a 995 Carbine...fun and cheap to shoot. Can shoot at an indoor range because it is a pistol caliber. Uses the same ammo as my Glock. I leave mine in my box blind during deer season as a hog gun!

I've always had an extremely poor opinion of Hi-Point guns. OTOH, I recently read a VERY favorable review of their carbine. I wouldn't feel so bad about getting one if I was looking for a pistol cartridge carbine.

I was given a 9mm Hi-Point pistol. I have shot the crap out of it and it will not jam even with the cheapest Wolf or any other Russian junk ammo. I dont think you could hit anything at 25yds with it unless you unloaded the clip and then a second one. You then might hit your target. The carbines appear to be the pistol with some junk stuck to it. If I was going to shoot someone and only need a throw away weapon, I would buy one.

I won their new .40 in a raffle for a charity. Only put my ticket in that box because it was same caliber as my pistol and there wasn't a lot of tickets in the box (better shot of winning I thought). I brought it to the range and shot 150 rounds out of the box and did not have one issue. Since then I had a mag spring fail but I sent it back to them and they sent a replacement for free. From what I understand the design was changed drastically in '10 because of previous issues. Fun little carbine to shoot and at 30 -50 yards I can keep a pretty tight group. Basically you pull the trigger it goes boom...what more do you want from a cheap firearm?

I have the 9mm carbine and it is a good gun. first time I shot it I knocked an egret out of the air with it. cheap and I believe it has a lifetime no questions asked warranty. you can also get an ati stock for it that makes it look alot better. good gun for the money.

I was given a 9mm hi point hand gun and it shoots but thats about all. Not accurate and sells cheap for a reason.

I have a JCP .40. Walked out of the store for $180 bucks.
It stays over my refrigerator or in my truck.
Shot about 500 through it. Jammed at first, but I polished the feed ramp with some light sandpaper and haven't had a problem since. Low recoil due to the weight, tough as nails, lifetime warranty, trash gun. At 15 yds I can put all 10 from the mag onto an 8" x 11" paper, even while moving.
Not good at anything I really would NEED a gun for, but there in case I have no other choice or I just don't care (i have other choices).
Would I defend my home with it? Nope, I have a Mossberg 500 with a folding stock and light for that.
Would I carry it? Nope, I have a Ruger 38 for that.
Would it be my night stand hand gun? Nope, Taurus .357 wheel gun for that.
Still a fun little trash gun to go shoot.
I'd like the .40 carbine eventually. Another trash toy gun.

I didnt really trash it but Im not bragging on it. Yes I have, I own one. Mine is fairly old though and I have no knowledge of the newer ones. They might have changed them up.

I wasn't really keeping count, but I think all the trashing has come from folks who don't like the pistol, but haven't shot the carbine. OTOH, the carbine seems to be getting favorable reviews here. I think the key is to be aware of what one is getting. It will NOT be a highly refined, extremely accurate, nicely finished gun. The idea of a reliable, inexpensive, easy to handle 9mm carbine is attractive as a home defense gun, truck gun or "bug out" gun.
