Do you want the two left out of the championship game to be playing each other?

Alabama is obviously in if undefeated. If Oregon gets in, ND and KSU could possibly play in the Fiesta. If ND or KSU get in, Oregon will obviously play the winner of the Big 10.

Personally, I don't want them to play each other bacause you will guarantee that 2 teams finish undefeated. I'd rather ND play LSU/Florida in the Sugar and KSU play whoever in the Fiesta. Then you have at least have the chance of it being settled on the field instead of Auburn 2004 happeing again.

I like chaos so I'd want those 4 teams to face off in some fashion.

I would think they would be smart enough to do this. There's already going to be at least two undefeateds to end the season in that case, rather not make it 3

It's hilarious because next year this would be perfect.

I want them to play each other because I am selfish and petty and even if Bama wins another NCG, I want there to be a question about the validity of it, and an asterisk, even if it's tiny.

In 2 years it would be perfect. Playoff doesn't start until 2014 season.

what if Bama truly beats themselves against Oregon in an extremely ugly game, and K-State smashes ND by 50??

It's not going to work out like that.

The Sugar will get the first at-large pick, and they'll pick Notre Dame

Actually, there's a great chance it will work out. Sugar and Rose could both potentially select SEC and Pac 12 runner-ups, respectively. The first at-large in the order is the Fiesta, which would mean ND vs. Kansas State.

Would the Sugar really pass up ND for Florida/LSU/UGA?

Of course if UGA wins the SECCG we could get Bama as the at large against the lone, left out undefeated

I think so. Don't tick off Slive with the Champions Bowl site selection coming up and the second SEC team is still really good and a huge draw. Plus, look at how the selection process would play out. If you take ND, the Fiesta probably takes the SEC team. You're now basically forced to take either Oklahoma or Louisville if you're the Sugar (potentially Clemson could be in the top 14 but not guaranteed if they lose to South Carolina). Oklahoma is a rematch from earlier in the year. That's not unprecedented, but it'd likely want to be avoided. The other is ND-Louisville.

So it basically appears the Sugar has three options:

1) SEC-Oklahoma
2) ND-Oklahoma
3) ND-Louisville

I think No. 1 would clearly be their preference.

And believe it or not, I actually think it'd be the Rose that would potentially be more likely to select ND than the Sugar. If they already have a pretty bad Big Ten team, they might want ND rather than a team like Oregon State coming off a loss in their last game of the season and not a huge draw.
