St. Charles is exploring the possibility of moving up to 4A depending on which teams play up from 2A.
The perfect schools for a district are SCC, Curtis, St James, Riverside and maybe ED WHite.

I know, strictly because of the coach. I dont ever recall St.James having a bad team before now.

3A just seems like the step child of classifications. With the exception of a couple, all the districts are weird and spread out. Only like 4 teams are ever any good. The disparity between the biggest school and smallest school is pretty huge (not like 5A huge, but the marginal difference at 5A is not as meaningful).
when the vote to play up was done last year.. it was 3A against the other football classes.. all because of JC and ECA... and to save the catholic league.

With the size of the enrollment, the facilities, and the community support - how can Denham Springs be so average in athletics?

Yep. It's pathetic playing over there now. Hardly anyone there to watch when the stands used to be overflowing with people. We've played them every year for I don't even know how long but that'll probably stop next year.

Great, Hammond goes back to the Northshore 5A district. The district's better teams' power rankings suffer accordingly because of one less chance to schedule a quality non-district opponent.

If they put Ehret, WJ, Higgins, Cox together I would guess they'll throw Bonnabel in their too. They'll either make it an 8 team district with Hahnville, Desty, and ESJ or move the river parish teams somewhere else....again.

Inside the Live LHSAA Meeting LHSAA accepting proposals to "Play Up" in person, via fax/email until 12pm, will announce at 1 p.m. West St. Mary principal Derrick White asking to be 2A rather than 3A because of potentially inflated enrollment, (WSM Denied request) South Plaquemines principal John Barthelemy addressing executive committee regarding Isaac's affect on enrollment and his numbers he turned in. (The decision regarding S. Plaq is being delayed for LHSAA to check with state Department of Education regarding the numbers of SP., (30 Min later, it is Denied) French Settlement appeals to play in B rather than 2A(Request Denied) East Beauregard's one-student appeal Denied, but EB was already listed as 1A school. No movement there. Harrisonburg who is listed as smallest Class B, says has three fewer students than listed 94 number, asks to be Class C(Request Denied) Saline appeal for students over there initial enrollment(Request Denied) Helen Cox coach Willie Brooks says his school will play up to 5A In hopes of joining Jefferson Parish league Hope Academy will remain in the count and be placed in a district, may play in the years of 2014-15, but not for district honors. John Curtis and Evangel have opted to play up in Class 3A. South Plaquemines principal John Barthelemy VERY UPSET that his motion was denied by the LHSAA Board. Sources close to John Curtis, say it was a last second decision on rather to go to 3A or stay put in 2A. Loyola Prep opts to play 4A. Sarah Reed and Miller-McCoy who have dropped to 2A with the recent numbers, have opted to play back in 3A. In the mean time here, alot of bells and whistles are being put out and the process has slowed down. No big surprises thus far on teams opting to play up other then JC and Evangel. Winnfield and Riverside, two Class 2A schools who have discussed maybe moving up to 3A, have decided to stay put. Redemptorist opts to Play up to 2A, they are a school who has 1A enrollment after the numbers came out Sunday. Mt.Hermon opts to Play up to 2A. Executive Board calls for a recess, will be back to business in 15 Min. We are back from the recess, updates will be listed throughout. St. Charles Catholic who was discussing on rather moving up or not to 4A, stays put in 3A. St. Augustine, Shaw and Holy Cross all decide to play up and to get the Catholic League back together in 5A. The Executive Board accepts the ruling on all schools opting to play up in different classifications without a hitch. There is alot of movement in Volleyball with different teams opting to play in different Divisions(To many to type). Preliminary district proposals will be expected tomorrow, at the latest on Friday. The Executive Board tells Principals that they will have until next Friday to reply with approval or without reservation, approval with reservations or disapproval. LHSAA will have next meeting on Nov. 27 in Winnfield regarding districts, then back in Baton Rouge on Nov. 28. Committee will then meet Dec. 12 to vote on final adoption of new districts according to Committee. The Executive Committee thanks everyone for coming, and the meeting adjourned.

I guess when Riverside and Winnfield saw that Curtis, Evangel, and UHigh were all going to 3A, they figured it'd be best for them to stay in 2A. 3A is going to have a lot of good teams the next couple years.
