My buddy is doing a Soak and Poke weekend getaway with the wife. They had dinner at La Boca and wanted to walk off dinner and have a great desert at another place so she posted a query on FB about what was everyone's favorite desert in the city. After the fact now, but thought it would be an interesting topic for the food board.

Some of the suggestions included Nanners Foster at Commander's, Choclate Bread Pudding Soufflee at Red Fish Grill, White Choc Bread Pudding at GW Fins, Hazelnut truffle at Irene's

What say you?

Agreed. The Bananas Foster there is soooo good. .

I'm such a sucker for sweets. I love dessert more than the main course.

Besides the Commander's Banana Foster, you can't go wrong with the desserts at Ruth's Chris. The banana tart & the apple crumb pie one with vanilla ice cream are delish. I also have a white chocolate bread pudding recipe from Palace Cafe that I love and cherish.

My favorite desert when I was a kid down there was a desert made with different types of leftover cake. This stuff also had alcohol in it. I forgot the name of the desert but I loved it. The last time I had this was back in 1993 when I was working in Avondale. A coworker brought some to us so I guess some bakeries down there still make it. If I'm not mistaken, McKenzies(sp) used to make it. I can't remember the name of that desert.

For the love of God, people, it's dessert not desert.

A trifle? Zuppa Inglese? Domenica makes a great banana version, and I tink Andrea's sells a version too.........

Bread pudding at Manale's. Is Manale's still there? Moved away in 2007 and haven't had a chance to return to N.O.
