I might try the Chase Freedom card. I spend on random shite and hopefully I can get my credit up and try again in 6 months. I will save your email and use it again then
just a heads up... i have a chase freedom card... have had it since 2006... recently went to apply for a loan and they said i have a "thin" credit file... so apparently chase freedom isn't a good card to build credit with... i think that some banks have credit builder loans which is essentially a way to buy credit points.. you take a out loan for 1,000 and then put it in a CD in their bank.. you pay the 30 bucks a month or whatever it is.. by the end of it you have improved your credit and have the CD... of course you pay more in interest than you earn... so don't go getting any ideas.

The rotating 5% cash back categories just don't appeal to me... I am probably in the minority on that though I call dibs on anyone wanting a Delta Amex referal

Yea. I can see how it isn't attractive. I got it becaue it was easy to manage inside of my chase acount during school.. It's the only cc I have. I've thought about getting others or better points. But I just don't spend enough money for it to matter

I agree I'd rather have 4 different cards for the different categories to maximize return Right now I have Amex blue and Penfed for gas Think I may add the citi forward for food and amazon and that should be a pretty good rotation based on my spending habits

I have Delta Amex - in the first year, we've gotten 3 free roundtrip flights, not including the companion voucher you get once a year. Also, a free checked bag and half off the entry fee to Delta skyclubs. Delta is not my favorite airline, but the wife and I like to travel so it's a good card for us. I use it like a debit card and pay the balance a couple of times a month.

Coming here to see if anyone has defined what a young professional is. I think if someone used that term IRL, I would just start laughing if I knew them well enough.

I take it to mean someone that works a white collar job. They are more likely to want airline and travel miles vs someone that works construction and doesn't go on vacation.

If you're a big Amazon shopper, I'd actually recommend the American Express Blue Cash Preferred. It gives 6% on groceries, 3% on gas and department stores and 1% elsewhere. The key is to buy a ton of Amazon gift cards at the supermarket, so you get 6% back on all your Amazon buys. Another upside of the Blue Cash over the Forward is that the Blue Cash gives, well, cash, which is a lot easier to use/redeem than Citi's ThankYou Points.

I've considered that method Amex blue cash just started limiting annual grocery rewards to 6000 spent because people were abusing the hell out of this loophole

i had massive ideas of seeing how much money i could spend at albertsons... i would assume that with their selection of gift cards i could do about 80% of my "shopping" via albertsons...
