Soft Food Suggestions

Hello all. I had the pleasure of having all my wisdon teeth extracted this week. I have been having mashed potatoes, chocolate pudding, potato soup with scrambled eggs, and even pureed a Bears Roast Beef Poboy with mashed potatoes because I needed something savoury after three days of blah. Any other good suggestions? Chunky is still not an option at this point. Thanks ahead of time.

Grits with a soft boiled egg.
Tomato soup with good melty cheese (since you can't have a grilled cheese sandwich to go with).
Ricotto Bake:
1 cup ricotta
1/2 cup grated Parm
1 beaten egg
S&P to taste
Italian seasoning
marinara sauce (maybe 1/2 cup)
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
Mix the first 5 ingredients in small oven proof dish. Top with marinara sauce and shredded mozz. Bake till bubbly. This tastes much better than it sounds. Saved me when I was on a pureed diet a few years ago.

Haven't gone the tomato route yet. Sounds good. Thanks so much.

Root vegetables, roasted in the oven are great for pureed soups. Roast the veggies and you can include onions with them or cook some onions down in a little butter. Put it all in a pot and add enough chicken stock to get the texture you want. Add herbs and seasonings you like. Puree in a blender (cooled first) if you don't have one of the immersion blenders to do it in the pot. Return the pot and heat again. Check the seasoning and serve or, if you want a cream based soup, just add a little milk, cream or half and half. You can add enough stock to get the desired texture.
Cauliflower works well, also. I wouldn't do eggplant because of the seeds unless you get all of the seeds out. They're tiny and could get in the wrong place. Butternut squash and sweet potatoes are particularly tasty. You could even saute andouille for those and puree that as well. You could even use a ground sausage.
Split pea or lentil soup could be pureed.

Now that I read that I'm craving some vegetables as well. Misery and discomfort has clouded my imagination for food. Thanks guys and gals. The root vegetable puree sounds so good and comforting.

Tomato Basil soup from LaMadeleine's is not chunky and will change your life. They sell it in to go jars for reheating at home.
Ricotta Bake is cheese lasagna minus the noodles so it probably is tasty.

Stouffer's corn souffle and spinach souffle are also excellent soft foods with lots of taste.
Our older son was never able to eat anything but soft food. Popeye's red beans and rice was soft enough for him to eat.

If I lived in NYC, I'd be looking for a Jewish deli with matzo ball soup. You could mush up those matzo balls.
Almost any kind of bean or pea can be purreed to become a soup or side or, in your case, an entree.
You can cook shrimp and puree them into a cream of shrimp bisque.

quote:This would cause me to buy tasty things. I would be buying pho, gumbo, and chicken tortilla soup from restaurants and either putting it in the blender or straining it and only having the broth with all the taste.
Misery and discomfort
Grits with butter, gravy, a sunny side up egg or a cream based sauce over the top would be savory as well but different than mashed potatoes.
Sweet potato mash would be good also. Or cream of broccoli soup.
