AR15 Ammo Issues

So I just went to the range to shoot my bushmaster ar15 for the first time. I was shooting remington .223 brass out of it and it was shooting fine. I bought this box of russian .223 yesterday and it's Tulammo. Anyways I started shooting this out of it and it wasn't feeding properly. I would have to pull the bolt back every few shots to feed one in. Is this ammo worthless or do you think it just needs better ammo feeding through it until it get broken in?

tulammo is crap, it wont cycle in my ar either. The pressures are too low for brand new guns. After a few 1000 rounds it might shoot in it, but American brass is better than any russain steel.

I got 500 rounds for 150 so it's not that big a deal. I guess I'm just gonna have to run some nice brass through it for a while before shooting that crap again.

The steel cased ammo has a laquer coating that comes off in the chamber and causes jams in ARs. This is complicated even further when you are switching between brass and steel cased ammo.

Yea, that American ammo is pretty good. I've got a few boxes at the house of it and the Rem

This... my AR only likes brass cased stuff.

The real issue is not the laquer or any of that stuff. The issue is that steel is slightly less elastic than brass. When any cartridge be it brass, steel, or whatever is fired it expands out to the chamber walls. Then it cools a bit and contracts. That process happens incredibly fast, literally between the time the powder ignites and the cartridge expands and the gas pushes the bolt back and eject the cartridge.
Brass being very elastic does it very quickly and is not "sticky" for lack of a better term. Steel is slightly less elastic and doesn't contract as quickly and sometimes not as well. So, in some rifles, it causes the rifle to not function exactly right. In another rifle, even one that looks identical, the timing of the gas operation or the chamber specs may be ever so slightly different and steel will work fine.
You might try polishing the chamber a little. You can do that pretty easily with a drill and a little rod with some Fitz or something like that around it. That will sometimes make things work where they didn't otherwise.

This.
My AR started jamming using the steel case ammo. I took it to my gun guy and he said that the higher quality AR barrels will not shoot that stuff consistently and that continued use could actually ruin the barrel. (He then started talking about tolerances and stuff, at which point I zoned out because I had my answer.)
I only bought the steel case ammo because I was used to shooting my SKS and it will shoot anything.
I have used all brass since that day and I have not had any FTF/stovepipe/or any other issues.

and American brass. I bought 1000 rounds of someIsraeli BRASS figuring those folks would make sure their shite fired and all. Didnt like it either. Shoot only federal and no problems since. Steel is even worse than the cheap brass. one of those suckers got jammed UP and bent my gas tube and block
so buy
