Miles was less of a "players' coach" and more of a "Martinet" (i.e., a no-nonsense disciplinarian)? All coaches, including Miles, need to understand that it is much better to be respected by your players than it is to be liked by them. Coaching is not a popularity contest.

What gives you the idea that he is a player's coach and not a disciplinarian?

I have a good friend that played for Saban and he said Sabanwas the biggest prick on the planet, but he knew how to win and he knew that as long as they did what they were told they would be winners.

No.
If this were the case then every "player's coach" would have a team filled with undisciplined penalties. Then those guys wouldn't get the jobs that they get. But they do get those jobs, because not all of those teams get penalties.
I saw somewhere that LSU has started more freshman than any other school. That is a much bigger factor in penalties than what you are suggesting.

Who wouldn't want to see him get in a players face every now and then when they do soemthing stupid?

By the board's logic, should Chavis be held responsible for the defensive penalties?
I feel like the offsides, personal fouls and pass interference calls on defense kept A&M drives going, especially in the 4th quarter.

Last time I checked loving to play for a man doesn't = no respect
Players have said they love him and that he is like a father figure to them. Most men in this world that love their fathers also respect them.
Don't think just because Miles doesn't embarrass players on national television that he is not also disciplining them behind closed doors. He is very much private with his players as you must know if you follow this team.

Perhaps you should have a sit-down with the man and inform him of the error of his ways.

"Martinet"
No need to capitalize it, Bryan Garner, it is not referring to a mean guy named Martinet, rather to an ordinary, non-proper noun (i.e. a thing).

that is what Les pays his ac's for. coaches who lose focus and control lose their teams a lot more often than those who continue teaching and supporting. very few coaches at elite levels pull that shite anymore...it's just too counterproductive.
