Top Ten Greatest Games in Tiger Stadium Since 1970

I was asked today what were the top ten greatest games that I've been to in Tiger Stadium since I begin attending games in 1970. If you can think of others that were better than these I'd love to hear about them.
1) 1979 vs USC - My first game as an LSU student. Lost to #1 USC in final seconds. We stood and stomped the metal bleachers the entire game.
2) 1972 vs Ole Miss - Bert Jones to Brad Davis for TD to win. Can still see the referee hesitate before raising his arms signaling TD after Davis kicked the pylon.
3) 1970 vs Ole Miss - Dropped Archie Manning for a safety and childhood hero Casanova scored two punt return TD's
4) 1997 vs Florida - Beat #1 Florida and the much hated Darth Visor.
5) 2007 vs Florida - The 4th down game.Incredibly intense game.
6) 1988 vs Auburn - The Earthquake Game - LSU had zero offense the entire game until the final drive to win it.
7) 2003 vs Georgia - Long TD pass to Skyler Green in final minute wins the game.
8) 2007 vs Auburn - TD Pass from Flynn to Byrd with one second left wins the game.
9) 1982 vs Florida St. Needed a win to go to the Orange Bowl. Hilliard and James ran wild. Fans pelted field with oranges as an eerie fog rolled into the stadium at games end.
10) 2000 vs Tennessee - Won in overtime on a gutsy pass call to the endzone on first down from the 25 yardline. Saban's first signature victory.

One of the more exciting games was the 1996 comeback vs Houston.

Pretty solid list but I think the 2007 game against Va. Tech should be on there. It wasn't a close game like the '97 game vs. Florida or the '07 Auburn game but the Tigers were just about seamless in that game and pulverized the #7 team (I think that's right) in the third game of the season.
Wish I could've been there.
It's on the list on the wall in chute.

Amazingly, I was at every one except the Earthquake Game and the 2003 UGA game.

I thought of that game. We were losing bad and me and my buddy were walking out of the stadium. We decided to stay for one more play. Kevin Faulk returned a punt for a TD and the comeback was on. We stayed to watch it all. Great game.

Beating Archie 61-17 in 1970 shouldn't be that high. Blowouts don't make cut. A close victory right at the end is Tiger Stadium at its best.

This might be the best list someone has compiled in a while.

I can understand that viewpoint but I am going by game athmosphere. There was intense hatred for Ole Miss and Archie at the time and it was really a magical night in Tiger Stadium. A very rare prime time TV game if I recall correctly.

Alright that makes sense then.

It was pretty huge considering the previous year Archie beat LSU just about by himself

I thought the Earthquake game was pretty terrible until the play. Hated that game.

The 1972 Notre Dame game should be on the list.

It was on TV. I was seven and that is the only game on the list that I did not attend. I can still remember watching it on TV.
Another you may want to consider is the '71 game vs Notre Dame, another Saturday Night broadcast.

The year was 1982. Was at the game. My freshman year. Also went to Orange Bowl.

Can definitely understand that viewpoint. Most people would probably have it in the top ten. Everyone hated Notre Dame and they had beat us the year before. It was a surprisingly easy victory. I remember Casanova totally shutting down their great receiver.

True
The game that hooked me as an LSU Tiger fan...1995 Auburn game
quote:
LSU donned its white jerseys for a home game for the first time in 15 years... 12-6 victory over fifth-ranked Auburn...LSU cornerback Troy Twillie intercepted a Patrick Nix pass in the end zone on the final play of the game...Nix was sacked for a safety when he stopped play after a fan in the stands blew a whistle... LSU crowd "was so loud that Auburn quarterback Patrick Nix, standing in his end zone, thought he heard a whistle and mistakenly thought the play was dead.
I was on the 2nd row of the student section with my best friend on the 1st row. We were yelling at each other and couldn't hear each other. the noise of the student section behind us was deafening. It was AWESOME.
ETA: Auburn had 1st and goal from the 10 and couldn't score a TD to end the game. That's when the noise was....indescribable

Thanks for correcting. I went to the Orange Bowl too. So many damn Cornhusker fans were there. We gave them a good game though.
