Looking for suggestions on a good guided goose hunt in Louisiana.

Went on one a few years ago in Welsh that was not so good. Guy had about twenty five folding chairs between fake grass on a rice levee with a mix of strange individuals. We shot at 3 small flocks of passing geese.

I can suggest goose guides inc. out of kaplan. also, many places in gueydan i'm sure are good.
I goose hunt a lot myself but am not nearly as good as a guide

I did the same shite...went on a "conservation order" hunt for snows...absolute waste of time...south la used to be the mecca for duck hunting, but has faded over the past 15 years...
check this place out, you won't be sorry...

That's because more and more rice is being planted up north so the waterfowl stop short. :sigh:

Don't remember exactly but it was around 200 a gun give or take. What's got me gun shy about trying this again is that this guy came with decent recommendations and has a decent website etc. so it seemed legit. Well, it sucked. The main guy sat at one end and his assistant on the other and when ducks would pass, they would holler over 20 people about whether or not to take them. Meanwhile, the birds flew off. It sucked.

We have 3 blinds in sight of his. There are normally tens of thousands of geese that fly from south of dummy line road. A lot of it is sky busting, but if you're shooting 3.5 bb's or bbb's, you can definitely knock them down. We always just let them fly though, unless if it's really shitty.

To me, the conservation deal is an opening day or bust kinda thing.
Like anything else they get wise...
I've hunted geese with Doug's out of the Lake Arthur/Klondike area and Pintail Hunting Club in El Campo/Eagle Lake, TX area.
I've found it's best to lease a duck blind with rights to hunt dry fields around it. When geese show up... hunt them.
That's where you roll the dice with a guide. They may not have any birds when you want to go, but they'll still take your money. Throw out a rag spread and hope to get some passerby's to come look.
The two outfits I referenced earlier have rights to thousands of acres. They scout the evening before, and you put out a rag spread 2 fields over from a big body of geese roosting. That's when shite gets real...

Dougs FTW, but with geese it is a lot like previous poster said, its all about if they are there or not.

So you have hunted with Megabucks? I had a thread about them awhile back and got mixed feed back. For the price it looks pretty good.

I don't do the guided thing, just not my style I much prefer DIY hunts.
However my dad is big into being coddled and hunts with Dougs about 10-12 times a year. He enjoys it, he is mainly after specks and anything else is lagniappe. He normally kills ducks, specks and some sky carp. I would go with Dougs if I ever did a guided hunt in our area.

I hunted with them. Nice people, good accomadations. Was mostly spoonies, however it was late Jan. and birds had been pretty well worked over all season. One bonus is they will let you hunt Specks in the afternoon for no charge and it was fun. I would go back someday.

I hunted with these guys in 2007. Had about 15 of us and we stayed at their place. Really nice people and we had a great time. It was a late season hunt and the birds were a little shy but we still did pretty well. Mostly speckle bellies and a few snow geese.

Go to West Texas and hunt dark geese. About 2 hours west of Dallas and all the way up to the N.Mexico/Texas border. Awesomeness. Last time I went you could kill 3 Canada's and 2 specks I believe. And these are decoying birds, not just pot luck sky busting. Out of state permits are around 50.00 for a 5day hunt. And the guide prices are about the same as here.

Been with Eric rue several times, he is known for getting specks, I have limited out on specks with him every time except one when it was pouring down raining and he told us when we met that morning that with the weather we would probably not do good on geese, but we got a 6 man limit on ducks, with a great variety
