Well, thanks for your service on both branches.

I once saw a hoopty Toyota Tercell with a bumper sticker that said "Don't laugh, my other car is an A-10. Go Ugly Early."

So did we lose the game where Knight threw an LSU fan "into/against" a trash can? I always assumed we won the game and he did walking off the court into the locker room?

In 1980 Knight fires a blank shot from a track & field starters pistol at Russ Brown, a reporter for the Louisville Courier-Journal. No charges were ever filed on this incident.

Holy shite, could you imagine if this happened today?

It is no small miracle that Bobby K didnt end up in jail. Seriously. I guess people were just made of a little sterner stuff 20-30 years ago.

He is one of those people who just flat out needs his arse kicked. He is a thug who has miraculously made it through pulling his BS w no repercussions.

Why anyone wants to be associated w this jerk is beyond me. Guys like him have to live in the world of misery they create so at least knowing he is rarely happy brings a smile to my face.

That story is an urban legend

What really happened was BTR accountant Louis Bonnecaze Jr saw Knight at the team hotel after the Final Four Semi Final. He told Knight congratulations and knight said "I guess we weren't bait after all" referencing Tiger Bait

Knight alleged Bonnecaze said an expletive, so he walked over to him and asked him to repeat what he said. Bonnecaze said "I gave you a compliment and you were sarcastic"

Then he called knight an a-hole so knight grabbed him by the throat and pushed him up against a wall

We got smoked in that game 67-49.

We had a small lead with a few minutes left in the first half and Dale decided we should go to our version of the four corners to run down the clock and get a lay-up at the buzzer. I don't recall the exact details, but it didn't work (maybe one of our guys called for travelling?), IU got points just before the half and the second half went all their way. I really thought we would win it all that year with Rudy Macklin, Ethan Martin, the CookieMan, High C, Leonard Mitchell, and Willie Sims.

Except that we should have won that game. That POS should have been called for a technical, and thrown out the game, for his actions. He didn't "outcoach" Dale, he out assholed Dale... and got away with it. Disgusting.

He said we beat IU unexpectedly in early to mid-80s and Bobby Knight was so pissed off that he took an LSU student fan and threw him in a trashcan!? My dad has been known for tall tales, but I have heard this story from others, though I had not thought about it in a while.

Does anyone know the validity to this and, if so, when and where did it happen?

To my knowledge, LSU has Never beat Indiana in basketball before, during, or after Coach Knight.

I don't think Coach Knight actually physically harmed an LSU fan. I think the fan was drunk and fell into a trash can. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

I would want Dale Brown for my dad, but have Bobby Knight as my coach. It amazes me the bullying Knight got away with as a coach. It wasn't like Knight was a third degree Black Belt expert. Coach Knight got away with this bc no one had the balls to stand up to him and tell him to GTFO.

Found it odd that this was in the Amarillo news paper this morning in regards to the trash can incident...

In that March, 1987 game, Bobby Knight ACTUALLY DID the following: Stormed over to the scorer's table to argue a call with the referees, then literally BANGED HIS FIST several times on top of the scorer's table within inches of the officials and crew as hard and as fast as he physically could.........

No technical. Nothing. Not even a warning.

LSU was either tied or one point ahead when LSU guard Fess Irvin was fouled in a one-and-one.....and missed the front end free throw. Indiana scored and went up by 1 point.
LSU's Nikita Wilson had to rush a turn-around prayer from the top of the key that missed, and LSU lost a chance to play in the Final Four - in New Orleans.

You could not be MORE wrong. Louis Bonnecaze, a CPA and LSU fan, congratulated Knight on his victory at the Final Four in 1981.
Knight repied "I guess we weren't your damn tiger bait after all." To which Bonnecaze replied "Knight's an a-hole." Knight then forcefully pushed Bonnecaze backward. If there had not been a garbage can behind him, he may have struck his head or been injured. Knight didn't push him "on purpose" into the garbage can. It just happened to be in the area behind where Knight attacekd him.
And no, the LSU fan was not "drunk." Not sure where you conjured that up from.
Dale Brown did get one thing right - Knight is a "despicable human being."
