This is my first basketball post. I am football, with baseball right under it, then basketball is WAY down there. I liked LSU hoops alot when I was a kid, but that is because I like Dale Brown alot.

My dad took me to a few hoops games in the early 90s when we had Shaq and Chris Jackson. This story about Bobby Knight's behavior jogged my memory of a story my Dad told me when I was 11 or so while at one of those hoops games:

He said we beat IU unexpectedly in early to mid-80s and Bobby Knight was so pissed off that he took an LSU student fan and threw him in a trashcan!? My dad has been known for tall tales, but I have heard this story from others, though I had not thought about it in a while.

Does anyone know the validity to this and, if so, when and where did it happen?

He got into an altercation with an LSU fan at the 1981 Final Four and shoved him "into a garbage can". Somehow that story evolved into Knight picking the fan up and depositing him into the can as though he was putting out the trash.

Thanks for the link. So it was Final Four of 1981. Does anyone know where the game was played?

Knight once said when he left basketball he would open up a furniture store and if you came by he, "would throw in a free chair".

Some wild man, was he.

Not to hijack the threat, but I've always wondered if that is you standing on the wing of an A-10 in your avatar picture. If so, 2 questions: Are you a pilot, and how does it feel to have that big of a gun strapped literally between your legs?

Greatest Bobby Knight Video of all time.

It is especially great if you are a golfer.

Yes. It is me.

That pic was in Afghanistan, at that time I was not a pilot, I was still in the Army. I have since crossed over to the dark side.

I guess you know it literally is between your legs. The actual gun mechanism is behind the cockpit. The thing is huge.

Only time LSU has beaten Indiana was in football 24-17 in 1978.

I can't think of a person I think less of than Knight, and that includes Spurrier and $aban.

The greatest quote in the history of the World came about because of the Bobby Knight-Dale Brown feud:

" We'll fight naked in a closet and see who the better man is."
Dale Brown
