Speaking of Superman, did you know that the comic books actually tried to justify him not being recognized once? Something along the lines of always moving extremely fast in small motions causing himself to "vibrate," so nobody would ever be able to actually "focus in" on what his face looked like, and nobody could ever take a clear picture or video of him..
yeah, nobody believed it.

that's pretty hilariously sad, but I definitely believe it. I bet the women loved that constant vibration though

Yeah, another very solid episode. Been very surprised and pleased with how good this series has been so far.

Yeah, that was another good one. It looks like they're setting up an arc for the sister. I wonder how long they'll let it play out before she knows what's going on.

Well, repeatedly referring to her as Speedy kinda indicates that she will play a very important role in the future.
And of course Dinah "Laurel" Lance is the Black Canary.
Part of me thinks they are just name dropping without any plans to develop the characters, but I do hope we at least get some Black Canary action. Mmmmm fishnets.

I enjoyed that.
I doubt the name dropping is anything other than a nod to the fans. This show would drop a few quality notches if Laurel and Thea started being superheroes.

Nah. Not the way Laurel was whipping arse at the night club a couple weeks ago. They're setting her up for bigger things also.
As I said in my other post, I just wonder how long they're going to prolong those arcs before they make the turn. Personally, I think they should just keep hinting at it during season 1 as they continue to tell Oliver's origin story.
Then start focusing the flashbacks on other characters in Season 2, and let them evolve into their alter-egos.

Yeah, this would be a good idea. Season one has been good showing Oliver's origin and him going after the people in the book.
The only thing I was a little disappointed in was Deathstroke's small role in this episode. Hopefully they bring him back for way more than that.

was Deathstroke the dude from the island with the crazy little half and half mask on? I literally know nothing about these characters from a comic book standpoint and I've never heard of any of the people being mentioned, but I'm really enjoying this show so far.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. Focus on Ollie and introduce a few other vigilante's if you want(Huntress) but not too many. Arrow operates in a middle ground between Smallville''s first few seasons and its last few. While I enjoyed those last few, guest star hero of the week, seasons of Smallville, I'm not interested in Arrow going that route.
When the sister and girlfriends start dressing up and fighting crime, it diminishes the awe of what Ollie accomplishes as Arrow.
As far as the flashbacks go, so far they seem to be showing his 5 years on the island at a fairly slow pace. Based on that, I'm guessing they will stretch that out over a few seasons.

While I'd agree that it's somewhat unlikely that they turn Laurel into the straight up version of Black Canary (where the hell would the voice come from for one thing, would be random), it equally wouldn't surprise me if they did something with her down the road.
That being said, I hope they don't drag the flashbacks out past this season, that would be pretty lame.

8 o'clock can't get here fast enough so I can watch this show with the wife tonight...

Once Winter time hits, Fringes is over, and my wife is graduated.. this show will probably end up being the only show I watch live, though from the first few words I'm seeing about last nights episode, this show will keep up with being awesome, so it's going to be awesome!
