Would you be in favor of Saints getting Manti Te'o in the first?

I know we've got Lofton, but Te'o could be a Brian Urlacher type impact that this team needs for the next decade

Um without question. BPA.. but I'm in favor of the Saints making a playoff run.

Yes, but I would love the Saints to make the playoffs and tell goodell to gfys

Is he fast enough to play outside in 4-3? I know he plays inside in a 3-4

too early to even project if the Saints will be closer to 4-12 (extrapolating their start) or 9-7 wildcard contention. That equates to a 20 place difference in draft position. Then there is a lot of shakeout still to be had in consensus ranking of players too.
That said, Te'o is a solid looking player. Sean Porter Tex AM looks like a better LB fit for the Saints to me.
The more the pick ends up premium, the more some positions are weighted higher. If it is first half of the 1st Rd I would guess two positions- a high impact pass rushing DE (Jeffcoat TX, Werner Fla St types) that could replace Will Smith. There's some good DE depth in this class. Or a day one starting LT if they choose to let Bushrod walk. It isn't a deep LT year tho.

I think we need to get a 2nd somewhere and grab a pass rushing DE with the first and DJ Fluker with the second

Why can't he be a Ray Lewis type impact? Aim high brah.

Urlacher or Lewis would be better than anything Saints have had since the Dome Patrol

absolutely...I'm really cool with drafting the biggest game changer regardless of position.

Do we even have a first round pick this year?
Posted on 10/10/12 at 1:23 pm to hsfolk
Would rather have the Jones LB from UGA. Faster, stronger and played against better competition.

So, you think he could operate within our system? Or that we'd have to switch some things around to accomodate him. Because, this is my favorite guy in this draft, but I feel like we might not get the most out of him with our current defense. Even still, I know he'd be better than what we have.

I don't know. Teo would be a great building block, but I don't think MLB is a big need. If a LB at all, I'd want the best OLB on the board. But I still think we need go pass rusher with our firs pick. If not, someone like Star Litueli (sp?) to shore up one our DT spots or a speed receiver to eventually replace Devery. We have possession guys for days. I thought maybe OL but I don't think we need a high pick, the OL has improved greatly the last two games

I wouldn't draft a 4-3 LB in the top 10 unless they were insanely good, which Te'o is not. Even if we play ourselves into the middle of the round, it would be stupid to move Lofton or Te'o to a less natural position. Te'o doesn't really have the skill set to play WILL, and the SAM is the least important position on defense. OT, any position on the DL, or maybe even a WR that can stretch the field should be the focus. Good OLBs can be found later in the draft, we just suck at finding them.

Bushrod is a FA next season and Strief is the season after that.

1. Star Lotulelei or Luke Joeckel
3. Sean Porter
3. Sean Porter

I hope we use the pick on DL (AGAIN)..and hope it pans out.If you dont put pressure on QB its a moot point.
