Possible reasoning on Gordo:

quote:

This actually makes a lot of sense in view of Klinsmann's comments in an interview last week. He said if he was faced with needing a last-minute goal in Antigua he would do what it takes, including throwing a lot of big bodies in the box. If you look at the Quakes goals, the last-minute goals are being scored by Gordon and Lenhart, not Wondo. Wondo is a finesse poacher - he doesn't sacrifice his body for a goal. Gordon will give his all up to the last second of injury time.

If we needed a big body for set pieces at the end of a game, I'd MUCH rather have Gooch on the roster solely for this purpose than damn near anyone in the pool.

The more I read the roster, the more I think that Klinsmann has just pulled off the greatest troll job of all time.

Maybe you're joking but I was actually about to post the same thing.

If it's that desperate in the last few minutes, sub in the players that are used to be targets off corners or move a holding mid back and send up a CB.

Roma, being that are used to looking to head corners.

Call in guys who can fricking score goals before we get to the 85th minute so we're not scrambling for a goal against fricking Antigua.

JK doesn't have faith that Jozy can score for the nats, b/c Jozy doesn't score for the nats, plus Jozy publicly said JK was incompetent. Can't bring that kind of drama into a must-win scenario against a team that Gordon's club team would walk all over.
I'm more concerned about Guat, but if we can't beat them with Clint and Gomez, Jurgen's experiment has failed anyway. Remember, it's his arse on the line. He obviously doesn't think Jozy is worth the trouble.

Herc is gonna keep shutting up his TD doubters

It's like he hears us when we say things like Sacha should get a call-up but he punishes us by giving Gordon a call-up and leaving Altidore off.

Anyone else find it humorous how much we all bitch about mediocre players, who haven't really given any reason to force their inclusion, not getting the call-up every time one these rosters drops?

Well to be fair, Jozy is above average. I'm still not even convinced that Alan Gordon is a real person.

Are people just ignoring that he called JK incompetent?

why does jurgen consistently leave our best talent sitting on their coach or wherever, and not have them suit up for the USMNT.

Where is
Boyd,Jozy,Lichaj. what the hell?

When did Jozy publicly criticize Klinsmann? Quote/Link please. Jozy scored more goals during WC 2010 qualifying than anyone in our pool. He's only played spot minutes for us this year, because Klinsmann prefers the non-traditional striker Gomez.

And Bhoy, who on here has been doubting Gomez? I don't recall any real detractors. I just seem to remember posters rightly pointing out that Jozy and Boyd have been on much better scoring form than Gomez. If anyone wanted to state their opinion that Jozy Altidore is a better footballer than Herculez Gomez, they're probably fairly accurate in their assumption.

ETA: Just saw the indirect tweet in question. He could be referring to a number of different people. He just got sent off for mocking a Dutch referee at the weekend. He also has had his Twitter foibles in the past, once tweeting that he was left off the Hull City game day roster because he overslept his alarm, and arrived late to the stadium. He also deleted that one ex post facto.

I could be sitting next to him right now and not have a clue, but I saw I think Ives tweet a few weeks ago that Gordon had the best goals per minute played ratio or whatever it's called. I think he was averaging a goal every 62 minutes or something.

I'm hoping Sheep made a typo and it was meant to say Flash Gordon

And I am also assuming that Jozy's tweet was in response to his learning that he was left off and the reason why he was left off

Brek Shea also didn't dress for FC Dallas' humdrum draw against the worst team in the Western Conference, and will probably get at least some playing time. This has been his worst season as a professional player, yet Klinsmann maintains that club form definitely matters in his selections.

At least cut out the spin bullshite Klinsmann. Say that you don't like Jozy's attitude, and that you think certain players fit better into your "sexy football" system of three defensive midfielders with no true wingers.
